Back in 2012 we posted pics of Tia Mowry’s big chop and her take on the experience.
I cried! I’m just going to be honest with you, I definitely cried. I really wasn’t expecting the shock value… A lot of people ask me, ‘What advice would you give to women who want to chop it off?’ I said, ‘Don’t think about it because if you do you won’t do it.’ But it’s very liberating and it definitely saves time…
Since then she’s been a bit under the radar, opting for weaves or straight styles on the red carpet. Well, it’s been a few years and her curls are on the grow. The gorgeous actress hit up a SAG Award party thrown by Entertainment Weekly rocking a mid-length curly fro and looking absolutely stunning. She posted the following pics to her Instagram account.
Of course, readers are always skeptical when we post natural hair celebrity photos (“That’s not her real hair! That’s weave!”) but Tia’s hair is consistent with other weave and make-up free selfies she’s posted.
Three weeks ago she posted this adorable pic with the caption, “The curls are out.”
And this photo with the caption, “Ever just wake up and turn the camera on yourself… Whoa #iwokeuplikedis”

I love a girl with natural hair. Beautiful women can’t win, when they wear their own hair people think its either a wig or weave, if they wear a weave people seem to be happy that the woman really doesn’t have that length hair. I personally dont get it? All I know is my girl did the big chop in 2010 and her hair is now a tigers mane and boy does she get a lot of attention. People come up to her asking if they can touch, what type of hair it is, and then when she states it’s her natural hair, people gasp and don’t believe her. All I know is that all women look more beautiful with their natural hair… whether long or short. God didn’t make any mistakes…take it at face value. Tia Looks beautiful! Also my girl informed me that not all curls are the same.

Love the Mowry sisters. I’m glad they’re embracing their natural hair again. It’s something refreshing and really helps to bring out their face.

i was just thinking the same thing. the texture and thickness was much different. maybe different styling? or just time? either way it was beautiful then and its beautiful now
i think that her curls appear tighter cause on sister sister it was much longer and probably manipulated in some way so it looked looser. we’ll see what happens when it gets longer

Her whole SAG party look is giving me life! The hair, the makeup, the outfit…sizzling! Even the toned down photos with no makeup look good (love her hair in the sweater photo). Werk it, Tia!
