1. My top favourite is coconut oil. Love the smell, great for deep conditioning and sealing, yet to try it out for pre poo. Next for me is olive, great scent, moisturises and great for my pre poo. Then I just started using castor oil on my edges but so far my hair likes it. Those are the oils I’ve had access to so far (I live in Benin City Nigeria)

2.

3. Warmer months: Coconut oil and EVOO

Colder months: Avocado oil and Brahmi oil

Essential (all year round): Peppermint and Rosemary

4. Extra virgin olive oil does my 4c hair good so i use that for my deep conditioners. Avocado oil too but it smells a little funky. Coconut oil i use for pre poos, on my skin and i lightly coat my fingers with it when undoing braids or twists. It has a nice light scent and adds sheen. I really like grapeseed oil because it’s light and has no scent so I use it to seal and I use it on my skin as well. Then there’s castor oil that i mix with my leave in and my hair stays super moisturized for days. Now i’m set to try watermelon seed oil since i’ve heard about it.

5. I love my jojoba oil, and my smell-good eo’s 🙂
I think this year I’ll try using more coconut oil.

6. I use castor oil & olive oil together, but I’m like the other commenter…the olive oil does make my scalp itch so I think I will need to find another oil like jojoba..I tried using coconut oil, but had to stop because I used it more for cooking than anything & it too fattening! I loved the taste of it more than the hair benefits!

7. Without a doubt it’s coconut oil! I love it. I seal my ends with it and my hair isn’t greasy and my ends are fine.

8. Coconut oil as a hot oil treatment, but otherwise I don’t really use oils because they just sit on my hair and break out my face. I like things with Tea Trea oil in it, but I don’t use them regularly. A lot of the products I use have shea butter in them, but I’m not an “oil” person.

9. I like Castor Oil because it’s heavy enough for my hair and it’s helping to fill in the thin spots with it’s growth properties. I was using and liked olive oil but it makes my scalp itch!

10. Right now I can’t seem to get enough of Extra Virgin Coconut and Olive Oils. I use them on my hair. I’ve been using the olive for my body as well. I have also started putting coconut oil on my face after washing. I believe both to be good for wrinkle prevention. The olive oil might be better because of the antioxidants but the coconut is so light and it smells light and sexy. Lol.

1. coconut oil is great for the skin. its not as greasy as olive oil, it clears up a tan(i.e. evens out skin tone) and reduces lines. In my case I’d have to say it removes lines. Coconut oil is a keeper.

11. I need to try EVOO – I keep hearing great things. Don’t forget about almond oil – Carol’s Daughter as the Jojoba/Shea sheen that my hair LOVES. Coconut oil/Castor Oil is great too!

12. Wheat Germ oil is my FAVORITE OIL!

I use it in my deep conditioners, spritz and once a week to seal. I also apply a bit to my problem areas (my edges by my temple) to strengthen.

it is the only oil the softens my 4c coarse hair. most oils just sit on top of my hair and seal but do not soften.Wheat germ oil that literally softens my hair

plus it contain CERAMIDES which strengthen the hair shaft from the inside out. Considering the amazing strengthening and cuticle smoothing properties of Ceramides, I am VERY surprised this blog does not mention them!

After beginning to use wheat germ oil, i get fewer split ends, need protein less, have less shedding, and breakage overall.

Second: I love Castor oil because it is by far the best moisture sealant. It does not go on greasy at all, and it does not leave a greasy feel on your hands. It also gives my hair good weight
and smooths my fly aways and edges.

I give an honorable mention to coconut oil…it smells nice and seal ok…but it leave my hair greasy to the touch.

13. I almost forgot! I love to use Africa’s Best Ultimate Herbal Oil with Ginseng in my conditioner spritz or after misting in the shower because its light and it makes my hair soft!

I love EVO Coconut oil mixed into my deep treatments because its smells very nice and nourishes my hair like nothing else. ^_^

14. My favorite is Africa’s Best Ultimate Herbal Oil with Ginseng. I mix it in with my conditioner spritz and my whipped Shea butter.

I also like coconut oil to mix in with my deep treatments. :3

1. I love Africa’s Best Ultimate Herbal Oil with Ginseng and jojoba oil. I mix these in with my conditioner spritz. Works all year round!!

15. So many to name: Wheat germ, castor, hemp, coconut, olive, hazelnut, grapeseed and jojoba. Some are used for my hair and the others are used for my face(OCM).

16. I use various oils …
essensiais oils: rosemary, lavender, cedar, sage, tea tree, palmarosa, ylang-ylang and peppermint …
vegetable oils, macadamia, castor, EVOO, tomato and argan …

17. I have several. During the colder months I use Castor oil or a mixture of grapeseed and jojoba oil. During the warmer months coconut oil.

18. My favorite oil to use is coconut. It gives my hair strength if you use to much it gets kinda crunchy but I love the smell.

19. I love using olive oil, because it’s liquid, so it’s easier to “rub in” and smells good. when I use oil I wear my hair braided so that my hair doesn’t lose it.

20. My favitorite is Castor Oil. It seals the moisture in. without it my hair will be extremly dry and flake.

21. I absolutely live for coconut oil – prepoo, sealant, added to DC, everything – I love castor oil for my scalp. Peppermint, Rosemary and tea tree are my essential oils of choice – added to my castille soap shampoo and to my scalp oil.

22. Hot six oil is my fav! I just started using it instead of EVOO and it gives my hair LIFE!!! lol. It has a cone but I haven’t had a negative reaction to it.

23. JBCO because I can use it for and with so many things and it makes my hair feel really soft.

1. I recently discovered Jamacain Black Castor Oil and I love the way it makes my hair and skin feel. I have sever alopecia and have to wear a wig daily. I’ve been using JBCO for about three months now and I can already feel a difference in my scalp. My hair is softer and doesn’t dry out as quickly. I also use it as a skin moisturizer and I love the way my skin feels. I had to get use to the smell but I noticed after about 20 minutes it is not as pronounced.

24. #1 Coconut Oil- I use it to seal my ends and also as daily moisturizer
#2 Olive Oil-I have been using this in winter months because it keeps my hair from drying out!!! I deep condition with it at least once a week.
#3 Argan (Moroccan) Oil-amazing for hair skin or nails, but its just expensive to find 100% pure! You don’t use a lot though, and it packs a punch!

25. this is a doozy.
its a toss between Peppermint oil and hollywood beauty’s tea tree oil.
the tea tree has been my faithful ever since ive been on my locking journey. it helps to lubricate my scalp and keep dandruff at bay.

but peppermint oil brings the tingle and the growth (especially when mixed with castor oil). and im sure it works like an antiseptic just like tea tree.

26. i swear by tea tree oil for both hair and skin, words can’t capture my love for it. it’s great for blemishes, oily skin, and makes my scalp feel so clean. personally i like the smell but my family hates it and liken it to turpentine. i also like the feel of castor oil; it’s so thick and glossy but at the same time i feel like it penetrates my hair unlike some oils i also use, but not as much (coconut being a prime example). i don’t like the smell of castor oil that much, but it’s healing properties make up for it (it’s also great for skin).

27. I love quite a few and plan to add to that list! I use coconut oil on a near daily basis. I mix it with shea butter or use it alone. I also use a mixture that contains grapeseed oil, tea tree oil, sweet orange oil, and jojoba oil.

28. I’ am still new to oils so don’t know all the 411 yet but I am going to try coconut oil this weekend. I heard so many great reviews about it but interesting list from the posters

29. In the beginning of my hair journey,my favorite oil was extra virgin coconut oil. I liked the way that it softened and moisturized both my hair and scalp.
I then graduated to castor oil and currently using JBCO.

30. I love coconut oil for pre-poos (rotate that with the vatika frosting from hairveda, which is basically “enhanced” coconut oil) and scalp.
I love Castor oil for my edges, sealing and scalp too!

I have recently started using a mix of ayurvedic oils (brahmi, shikakai, amla, etc) and i am loving it on my scalp to prevent the itches! 🙂

31. I came to know about what various oils do from The Coil Review.com E-Magazine. I Love Coconut oil, amla oil castor oil and peppermint oil. Maybe we should start checking out teas though cause I get great results!

32. i love me my peppermint oil. that will be the oil that i say is my favourite. other than that, i dont really have a favourite oil. i always have coconut, olive and castor oil on rotation because they are cheap and easy to get (althought i stopped and started using coconut oil because it hardening whe it got cold was annoying). i want to try sunflower, grapeseed and jojoba oil. i did like almond oil also. but yea, thats about it.

33. Jojoba oil: Overall hair oil, general applications and mixtures. And it doesn’t clog pores, and great skin oil. Good for spritz mixtures.

Shea Butter: Great in keeping moisture, doesn’t clog pores and nice on the skin especially during winter, helps hair keep soft.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO): For oil rinses, shine, and for oil mixtures.

Tea tree essential oil: Antiseptic and antibacterial qualities.

Cold Pressed Castor Oil: Super thick quality for serious sealing in moisture for longer periods, oil mixtures, and hair ends. It also helps the hair for feeling softer for longer.

Peppermint essential oil: To stimulate the scalp and balancing smell to tea tree. But I might stop this one its very strong

34. Well I use grapeseed oil on my face. Works great!

for my hair I use vatika oil to seal my hair after I was and condition. And I use taliah waajid african healing oyl on my scalp during these winter months to soothe the dryness.

I also add olive oil to my giovanni smooth as silk conditioner for a deep conditioner.

35. My favorite oil is cold pressed castor oil from Whole Foods. It make my hair so soft and spongy.

36. Castor oil is a favorite of mine. I use it on my edges… LOVE IT
I also use rice bran oil. Not many ppl use it but I love it

37. I love coconut oil, have used it all my life. It makes my hair soft and shiny. I use it in my water spritz, and when I make kimmaytube’s leave-in recipe. The leave-in smells so divine, my little daughter can’t keep her hands out of it. She slathers it messily all over her head :)I substitute coconut for jojoba in the recipe because it is a fraction of the cost where I live.

38. Right now my favorite oils to use are Coconut, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Olive Oil,and Tea Tree

I usually mix the coconut, Sweet Almond, jojoba, and olive oil into a cream with raw, organic shea butter. The Tea Tree oil I use as a scalp treatment pre-poo

39. I’ve been natural for two years, and I just discovered castor oil. I love it because it’s a humectant and gives my hair a nice sheen. It makes my hair so soft! I just bought three 32oz. bottles of it from Amazon!

40. I use olive oil and jojoba oil. Olive Oil keeps my scalp from drying out so I usually use it only in my scalp about three times a wk. I use a jojoba oil heat treatment to keep my ends together just once a wk or so. Neither is too watery or oily for me.

*Conditioning before a wash with a mix of olive oil, cinammon and water is also great for me.

41. My fav oils:

1.Hempseed oil- softens and smoothes hair
2.Castor oil – excellent sealant. Hair will stay moisturized all day.
3.Grapeseed oil – good for pre-poos and scalp health

42. My hair really appreciates oils!!! I love coconut oil, almond oil, castor oil, olive oil and avocado oil. I use avocado and olive oil together for my pre poo treatments and it has done wonders in minimizing tangles, breakage, etc. I use the other three oils combined as a super sealant. I helps retain moisture and lets my hair smell super pretty. But if I am pressed to pick the superstar out of the oils, I would have to say castor oil. It has made my hair softer, shinier and minimized fairy knots.

43. I like coconut oil, not too heavy and gives a lot of shine but I think it breaks out my face. I also like joboba and grapeseed. I find that castor and olive are too heavy and make my hair look greasy.

44. Avocado oil is DEFINITELY one of my favorites!! it keeps my hair soooo soft when I use it after my leave-in

Jojoba oil is good for my hair & skin

Sweet almond oil is all around good, too!

45. Coconut oil-I use it for deep conditioning and hot oil treatments. Also makes it easier to detangle.

Jojoba oil-Glad I tried this! For oiling the scalp when it starts getting dry

Olive oil-Good for hot oil treatments.

46. Coconut Oil: I like it because it’s light, smells heavenly and has been proven to penetrate the hair shaft. I mix a little bit with my little leave-in conditioner. It’s great on my skin as well.

Castor Oil: I like it because it’s thick and seals in moisture. I use it to seal my ends when I put my hair in an updo or bun.

47. 1. Coconut Oil- An amazing sealant (for my hair) and provides so much shine!! Also, not sticky, absorbant, and CHEAP! I use the generic brand from whole foods. I think i’ve had it for 2 years and I still got about an inch worth at the bottom. I use about a dollar coin size for my entire head.

2. EVOO (I’ve always wanted to write that!)- Very rich in moisture. I always add EVOO to my deep conditioners and my conditioner. I don’t use this daily because it’s a bit too thick and sticky for my taste, but I love the benefits that it adds to any treatment 🙂

48. My locs love shea nut oil but I also have rosemary oil and coconut oil as faves.

Shea nut oil: soft hair
Rosemary oil: added to my pre-made scalp oil
Coconut oil: Deep treatment with EVOO

49. olive and castor oil ! Castor oil because it makes my hair feel so much softer, like you know that mid-week feeling where you’ve put in just enough product to make your hair feel great but not enough so that your pillow looks like the BP oil spill ? ,,, yeah castor oil is like the perfect blend so i get that feeling for the WHOLE week. not too oil but not too little. Olive oil .. idk, im a new natural, i need to see what it does for me in the long end.

50. Vatika oil! My hair just loves it. It makes it shiny, new greasy, sinks right in and enhances the moisture properties of whatever I apply underneath.

51. My favorite hair oil is coconut but my favorite all over the body oil is olive. Olive works well on my hair skin nails as a cuticle treatment just everything!!lol

52. Coconut oil – because it prevents hygral fatigue (thanks Jc, for that heads up!) and i can use it as a skin moisturizer and facial cleanser…AND IT IS CHEAP!

Jojoba oil: because apparently it is closest in structure our our own natural sebum. And i can use it as a skin moisturizer and facial cleanser too! and it is not too expensive.

53. hhhmmm, let’s see:

-my regular spritz bottle contains water (DUH) & peppermint (i’m just in love with that smell!)

-a few days out of the week i oil my hair with a mixture of jojoba, rosemary & lavender

-and i really want to try green tea oil for hot oil treatment

-i’ve also been very curious about tea tree oil (another time….)

‘TIS ALL =)

54. for my life, hands down: coconut oil. i use that on my hair as a daily moisturizer and as a lotion. my lotions irritate my sensitive skin, but it’s really helped.

and also i love tea tree oil. i add it to my shampoo and conditioners to help with my dry scalp. i don’t know what i’d do without either of these oils now!

http://msjanelle.blogspot.com

55. I forgot to add that these oils provide the most softness, shine, and invigoration to my hair. It has really flourished since using them.

56. I definitely do not have one favorite oil. I have several favorites.

Coconut, avocado, EVOO, brahmi, peppermint, and rosemary are the ones that I love. I used to have castor in my regimen; but, I’m over that oil.

57. Olive Oil & Coconut Oil. Olive Oil ledt my hair surprisingly soft the 1st time i used it as a sealant when i ran out of coconut oil. Coconut Oil for the scent & how it makes my scalp feal.

Castor Oil has the same effects as gel on my edges, with out the stiffness.

As for essential Oils, I love Lemon for the scent & refreshing sensation on my scalp, and rosemary for the same reason.

58. Castor oil is a favorite of mine. I use it on my edges and to seal when needed. Leaves my hair soft, and it penetrate my hair much better than coconut oil. I use that in addition to moringa oil.

59. I use oils sparingly because they tend to make my fine hair feel straw-like. My favorite oil for sealing is grapeseed, but EVOO is a close second. I love the way coconut oil feels on my hair, but the slightest amount creates breakouts on my face.
