Going to Court Over Relaxers

If you’re a longtime fan of this brand, you know it started out of the natural hair movement. For those unfamiliar, the natural hair movement sought to inspire black women to wear their hair in its coily or curly state, without using chemical relaxers to straighten it. 

But new research is showing that embracing natural hair isn’t just a matter of confidence. It can be a matter of life and death.

After a 2022 study found a link between chemical relaxer use and increased rates of uterine cancer more than 8,500 lawsuits have been filed against relaxer companies. 

In an expansive report that is both informative and heart-breaking, Chicago Public Radio shares the stories of women who are suffering or died from uterine cancer and fibroids, and believe it’s linked to their relaxer use. You can read it here.
