Best-Smelling in the Locker Room 🏋🏽‍♀️

I wrote recently about getting back into a workout routine to stay trim as I approach 40. My body is sore and my spirit is weak, but I’m hanging in there! (Just kidding, it’s not that bad, lol.)

One of the benefits of gym-going, that I’d forgotten, is the ability to do research in the locker room. Observing what products women are using to moisturize and soften their skin. 

One thing I’ve noticed is our Sandalwood & Bergamot Body Oil is always amongst the most fragrant moisturizers in the locker room. Any time I press down the pump and start slathering, curious and delighted faces turn in my direction. 

I was slathering last week when a lady beside me said, “Oh my goodness. That smells amazing! Where did you get it?!” 

Being too awkward to say, “I made it!” I said instead, “There’s this amazing natural boutique named BGLH Marketplace not far from here!” and gave her directions to our storefront.

Of course it will be very awkward when she shows up and sees me, the owner, there… but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

When the oils launched I compared, point by point, how they stack up against our body butters, (you can check that out here) and one thing the body oils win on is scent. Our body oils perfume the skin far more potently than the body butters, because the essential oils come through stronger.

And while our body oils don’t moisturize as deeply as our body butters in winter when it’s cold and dry, they are a perfect lighter alternative for spring time!

My current routine consists of slathering most of my body with Sandalwood Body Oil and reserving our body butter (I’m currently using Orange Grapefruit) for my dry spots – feet, hands, forearms and knees.

And a bit of good news; our newest body oil scent – Vanilla – will be released in both sample and full size during Memorial Day weekend! 

And if you’re wondering how we’re able to pack such deep moisture into our body oils, it’s because of the shea oil! Yes! We carried our love affair with shea butter right on over to our oil formulation.

Shea oil is a fatty oil extracted from shea nuts. It has a similar composition to shea butter but is more liquid at room temperature. And it has many of the same moisturizing and nourishing properties as shea butter, including the ability to hydrate and soften skin and improve its elasticity. 💗
