Shea butter and mango butter are both natural and plant derived.
Shea butter comes from the nut of the shea tree, which is native to Africa. The nuts are crushed and boiled to extract the butter. (Like this.)
Mango butter is extracted from the seeds (kernels) of the mango fruit (like this.)
Shea butter is high in fatty acids, and vitamins A and E. Mango butter is also rich in fatty acids, and contains vitamins A and C.
Fatty acids are crucial components of the lipids (fats) that make up the cell membranes in our bodies. They promote healthy cell turnover and regeneration, support the skin’s natural repair process and keep skin soft, smooth, and supple.
So, shea and mango butter are both natural ingredients that are amazing for skin. What are their differences?
Shea butter has a thicker consistency compared to mango butter, and gives the skin a warm coating. Mango butter has a silkier texture and absorbs right into skin, leaving less of a coating.
Shea butter has a mild, nutty aroma, while mango butter is basically odorless.
