Last week I read an article about a celebrity who had released a line of vaginal health gummies.

Vaginal health products have skyrocketed in popularity although studies show they are largely unnecessary and, in some cases, dangerous.

Most have nothing to do with actual vaginal health, and more with exploiting womens’ embarrassment over how their bodies naturally function.

I scrolled down to the comment section and someone had written, “I’m so tired of these self-hate products.”

Bingo! That one phrase — ‘self-hate products’ — put into words what I’ve felt for years.

I started BGLH, in part, because I was tired of ‘self hate’ haircare products. Creams and conditioners that promised to de-kink my hair and give me long, flowing locks. They never worked, by the way, and left me with the same kinky hair I had to begin with.

So I formulated products to do exactly what I needed them to do — not change my hair, but nurture it and give it moisture. To my surprise this led to consistent hair growth. 

There are so many dangerous messages out there — that we are too fat or too thin, too dark or too light, too old or too young. And there are countless beauty products to “fix” these “issues.”
