Clean beauty is having a moment. People want to know their skincare products are safe for absorption and free of toxins. And while many companies are scurrying to clean up their formulas, we’ve been completely clean from day one.
Our products are *literally* edible.
That’s right; the base ingredients for all our body butters (shea, cocoa and/or mango butter, coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, argan oil) are safe to eat. Shea butter is actually a popular ingredient in West African cuisine.
Now, to be clear, essential oils — which we use to scent our butters — are completely natural, but not safe for ingestion due to how concentrated they are. They are completely safe for topical application when diluted in oil or butter.
Customers can sense the purity of our butters when they step into our storefront. We are often mistaken for a bakery and people frequently remark that our butters smell good enough to eat.
For us clean beauty isn’t a trend. It’s what we’ve been doing from the start.
“I’m on my journey of trying to find products made by us and safe for us and stumbled on BGLH. I started using the butters when I was pregnant, as my skin got even drier than it normally had been. Once I started using the butters, my skin felt moisturized and lively. Now…I’m addicted. I referred my best friend for her daughter who has dry skin. She told me her daughter refused to give the jar back, so she bought her own! As far as my skin…AMAZING! I noticed this week that my tummy stretch marks from having the baby are now fading and are the color of my skin. I had a bruise from running into something last week and it’s pretty much gone now. I also had dark underarms and voila…they are my skin tone again!! I’m about to gift another jar to my brother in law! These butters are the bomb dot com! Yup…I’m 40 and saying old things now! Thank you!!” — Najah on Lavender Whipped Shea Butter
