BGLH Style: Tynette in Texas

Introduce yourself!
T:
My name is Tynette and I’m from Houston, TX.

What is your style philosophy?
T:
I believe quality is better than quality and that your wardrobe should be built around classic pieces.

How would you describe your sense of style?
T:
I really don’t know how to describe my sense of style. I love to dabble in a little bit of everything. It depends on what side of the bed I wake up on, but I’m currently loving clean lines and very contemporary looks.

What is your process of deciding what to wear in the morning?
T:
Honestly, I dress for my blog posts. I look at what I’ve worn and really just try to mix it up. It causes me to dig deep in the depths of my closet and pull out things that I’ve either forgotten about or haven’t worn in a long time. Sometimes it’s very easy and effortless, and other times it’s extremely difficult.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
T:
I love my single-sole heels. I just think they’re so feminine, chic, and just an all around classic shoe. Anything leather (jackets, pants, and shorts) are also a wardrobe favorite along with any top or sweatshirt I own with a tiger on it.

What are some of your favorite shops/websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
T:
Zara, Asos, Pixie Market, Jessica Buurman, and Supermuse come to mind for online shopping. I work at a luxury department store that I do most of my purchasing because of the generous employee discount.

How long have you been natural?
T:
I have been natural my entire life.

How and why did you transition into natural hair?
T:
There was no transition for me, but initially I never got a perm because my mom wouldn’t allow it. When my mom became friends with a lady who exclusively styled natural hair, she introduced me to her. This woman educated me about the harm perms and other chemicals can not only do to your hair, but also your body, and I knew from then on I would always be natural.

What is your signature hairstyle?
T:
I’ve been growing my sisterlocks for the past 13 years, so I would have to say that is my signature hairstyle.

Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
T:
Once a week I will wash and deep condition my hair with Taliah Waajid’s Black Earth hair products and keep my hair moisturized with organic coconut oil. Very simple. For styling I’ll either braid or bantu knot my hair and use the Lock it Up or Crinkles N Curls by Taliah Waajid to hold my style.

  1. Trauma to the finger or the hand is quite common in society. In some particular cases, the entire finger may be subject to amputation. The majority of traumatic injuries are work-related. Today, skilled hand surgeons can sometimes reattach the finger or thumb using microsurgery. Sometimes, traumatic injuries may result in loss of skin, and plastic surgeons may place skin and muscle grafts.*;:..
