Yara Shahidi’s mother Keri is African American and father Afshin is a native of Iran, one of the countries included in Donald Trump’s ban of nationals from majority-Muslim countries.
As protests against the ban erupted across the country Shahidi wrote a deeply personal Instagram post about how the ban would have affected her family.
“I am the result of love. More specifically, Black and Iranian love. Of Shia love, of Christian love, of American love, of a love that highlights how interconnected we truly are. If my Baba was stuck in an airport because of a Muslim ban 39 years ago, he would have never fallen in love with my mama. I would not exist and I wouldn’t have two amazing brothers. Xenophobia destroys the power of love and the power of our collective potential. It creates a false sense of security for some and an environment of fear for others. Immigrants don’t threaten safety–stereotypical narratives that promote hate do.”

She is a very bright young lady.She has spoken up for blm movement.Not suprised of her wokeness after all she’s the rapper nas cousin.He taught her well.
She celebrates both cultures and has written about the challenges in the Black community. She also interviewed John Lewis last summer. She is intelligent, conscious and mentors other youth! Google her!
Was she at any Black Lives Matter movements, did she write a statement then? Has her father (hell, or mother, or hell again, this woman herself) do anything or is doing anything to help disenfranchised black communities? If they can’t say anything to these questions then their issues aren’t mine. F a conditional ally.
@Truth.. I understand what you are saying.. and I understand how you feel.. but unfortunately we don’t have the luxery of thinking like that because as we all know.. It’s starting with the muslims, but it will trickle down to us blacks..
Blacks have always suffered, so i don’t know what you mean by “it’ll trickle down to us” when it started with us along time ago.
She is actually a known vocal supporter of blm. You can Google her and find that out yourself. She is also a supporter of young black activists herself. She, as well as a few others are very encouraging towards black female activists as well.

Actually yes she has supported the BLM movement on several platforms, probably more than you yourself can as she is able to reach millions of people. I love how you call a 16 year old a conditional ally who has actually met all your listed conditions above, but you yourself are a conditional ally as you are so harsh with others’ struggles that don’t neatly align with your own. But of course you give no response despite multiple other replies in this thread giving you evidence in opposition of your belief. Sad!
