The youngest member of the Smith family and now super cool trendy teen, Willow was spotted around Los Angeles serving psychedelic bohomian realness. Willow has ditched her colorful wigs and is now rocking what appears to be faux-locs.

We love the look! Would any of you try waist-length faux locs?

  1. Willow is growing up!!!! Looks like she’s headed for her dads height…..time to get her ready for the runway 😉

  2. She looks good!!!! I am surprised that so many commenters are so critical of a young black female on a site that promotes Black female beauty. Really? She is young. Why not try new things? How is this any different than braid extensions? I wore extensions that were often very long regularly when I was her age. I think she looks cute and very confidant. The pants are daring and so is her style. As much as we complain about society not accepting us as Black women we put so much pressure on each other to conform to a particular standard. Especially young Black girls. From the jump everything has to be to a certain standard even natural or faux natural hair. It looks messy? Really? Maybe that is the look she wants. She takes risk with her style and people have a problem. Honestly, there are days when I wonder if the black woman hair community on this site is really about supporting each other. She is a child. SMH.

    1. Different strokes for different folks. It’s not your preference and that’s fine. The messy look is what she seems to like and that’s fine too. We have to respect each other’s differences.

  3. Just two little boys and I would be hurt and angry if grown folks insulted them or a difference of toast and style. I think we should love ok their people’s kids more. Protect with your words! They pay attention to public opinion because they are in the entertainment industry.

  4. Wow, look at this girl! She looks like a very stylish 90’s teen (this is a compliment!) but very cute and fresh at the same time.

If she actually came up with this look by herself then I am very excited to see how her style evolves as she grows up.

  5. Willow is like Solange to me, she can do no wrong. She is a trendsetter and she marches to the beat of her own drum. I love her confidence!

  6. Forget fake hair, I don’t care but THOSE PANTS have inspired me, I’m now on a mission to find some stretch tie-dye fabric and sew myself a pair!!!!

  7. Love faux locs!!! They are my fave protective hairstyle, but I must admit I hate doing them lol. Took me two whole days smh.

    1. I had faux locs last year, they took me two days to complete and I only kept them for two days -_- smh they were so heavy they gave me a headache. I like them though, I may try them again but not soon lol

    2. To the lovely ladies that posted pics of your faux locs, you both look beautiful! 🙂

I have never been a fan of young Willow’s music or style, but she is growing up to be a very beautiful young lady. I loooove locs…my hair is currently too short to install the faux ones, but I love the look of them. I may do them next summer.

    3. Nice, excuse my ignorance. What are faux locs? Are they from synthetic hair like marley braid? How do you install them? They look nice on Willow and on you too. Thanks

      1. Thank you and yes they’re done with Marley hair, at least mine were. You can also so them with yarn, but I prefer using actual hair. I started out doing regular Marley twist on my entire head then taking individual pieces of hair and wrapping it around each twist to give me the appearance of locs rather than twists.

This is the video I followed if you’re interested (:

        1. Wow, thanks, it’s nice of you that you replied and even went out of your way to give me the video, i really appreciate.

          Thanks once more

  8. I don’t know if its how she has them styled, the outfit, or something else…but I don’t like locs on her. Something about the overall package is throwing me off.

  9. She’s maturing into such a beautiful young woman! The locs look good, I like the length. I’ve done long Havana Twists but never waist-length, I might try it for the summer. I think locs would be too heavy for me though Willow seems to be rocking them just fine.

  10. I don’t understand how this is a problem or an issue …can’t she do whatever she wants on her head?

    1. So could people who get fake hair in their braids, which is relatively normal. What’s the difference?

    2. Or maybe people want to keep their hair versatile and NOT loc their hair. This is great for people who only want it temporary without cutting it all off to get a fro again.
