Get ready for a lot of hair flipping and dramatic classical music. This is an ad for an “organic” “natural” (and I’m assuming no-chemical) straightening system. So obviously there’s an element of exaggeration here, but I find it interesting that black companies are still holding up lack of social acceptance as a reason to reject natural hair. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.

I just looked at the video and it was 7 years old. Yes back then in 07, the natural movement wasn’t popping off yet. Everyone was still into relaxers. I think it was around 08-09 when everyone got on the natural movement. The video is really dumb and the product doesn’t look like it sold. It probably went out of business. But that was the mentality 7 years ago. People loved blaming their hair for everything bad that happened smh.
Can we please stop buying to the Eurocentric ideas of beauty. Can we stop passing on to out children that you have to have straight hair to be beautiful. Can we stop telling our kids that the lightest skin is the most attractive. Black people used to be Egyptian leaders now were are trying to make ourselves look and blend in with society. This sends blacks back yrs.
LOL!so we’re supposed to buy that BS testimony?? Seriously? To highjack this girls SUPPOSED self-esteem issues to sell product? Thats lower than low. And BTW, where’s the info abt this “all natural product”? That was an infomercial or just a sob story meant to play upon the insecurities of black little girls? The vid suggests your hair needs to FLOW & SWING for it to be beautiful! Well Honey, all hair was not meant to flow & swing! You get what God gave you. You are a woman of color, your hair had just as much chance of being “fling-able” as it did to be tightly coiled. This vid plays into the “fix-it” menatlity they want black women to have abt their hair. You can’t fix what isnt broken,. Different is broken. Different is just different. Keep comparing yourself to others & you will NEVER be happy. We win the daily battles our our little girsl face in society when we teach them how to take care of their hair, why they should love their hair & how to stop worrying abt what others have growing out their heads, have sewn in their heads or wear on top of their heads!
Im not saying straight hair isnt beautiful as well as any other texture but damn! she looked like she hadnt touched her own damn hair in weeks!lol! Honey, THAT is why u have no social life & no friends if u walk around looking like that!! She looked like she rolled out of bed, shiny forehead & all, no makeup & jumped in front of the camera. Tilting her head just so, not looking at the camera, being so “sad & withdrawn”…boo-hoo! BAAAD acting! We enlightened girls have learned its got nothing to do with whether it “flows”. When u like yourelf you will eventually find ppl who like you for you and like your vibe bc u are being authentic & just do your own thing. I know school is tough, I had it rough but seriosuly to try to make her hair the SOLUTION to bullying & low self-esteem? A dangerous& irresponsible use of social media.
What a hot mess that was! That was insulting, demeaning & a poorly executed PLOY for sales.smh
opps! I meant different ISNT broken! lol!
This “commercial” reminds me of all the infomercials for useless stuff that come on TV late at night. But, it’s even worse. It doesn’t mention the name of the product line, show a demonstration of it in use, or say what the product actually does…or why they declare it “organic”. There’s no way in the world I would go running off to that salon to purchase the service or be a hair model. I would be afraid either the product would work long enough for me to sleep on it once, or that my hair would start coming out all over the place before I even left the salon. Worst commercial ever, for what is likely a pretty bad product-but we don’t know that, because the product isn’t mentioned at all! I actually did a search on “natural organic hair system”, as is shown in the video title, and got no useful information. I hope nobody fell for this!
It is so sad that we as people have so much self hatred. We hide this self hatred on the pretense of something like hair. That young lady in the video displayed a multitude of insecurities but it was so much easier for her to state that it was related to her hair.
At the end of the day it is sad that people are manipulated into believing that a product will change their lives. In reality change comes from within and is displayed outwardly
It’s natural, it’s energy… it’s ‘so natural’… lol. Now she has friends!
On a serious note, if they are selling a product, apart from the terrible acting & pointless couple of minutes, there was no mension, demonstration or sell… Can’t get annoyed or upset about this one.
Foolishness lol
Is this for real… All I can do is laugh!
LMAO why is everyone so upset? I thought the vid was hilarious. Come on. Everyone knows it was wack. They obviously didn’t have much success selling their product with that kind of advertising.
am sorry, but this video is a hot mess…but to each their own…i guess
u tellin me!!! quite ridiculous! this girl just needs to wash her face and stop acting a fool. as for the marketing dept. for these products smh, you’re all fired! sheesh
OK are we supposed to really believe this girl? … that’s got to be the worst ACTING I’ve seen in a while and whoa the things that came out of her mouth. .. are you kidding me???!!!!!!
So we’re supposed to believe homegirl is so depressed about her nappy hair (which by the way looks like relaxed hair that has not been touched up in 6 months + she forgot to wear her scarf to bed and just woke up to give the “testimonial”) that she has no friends b/c of her hair … then she gets her hair straightened by this mysterious “chemical-free organic” process (off camera I might add) and all of a sudden she gets a bubbly personality plus some shiny lip gloss to go with it!!??
I want to know WHO made this melodrama – I mean, “commercial” (the sappy music and the switching to black & white as she reminiscences about her troubled lonely life was just tooo much to sit through without laughing) and WHO are they targeting, pre-schoolers? Cause anybody older than that, in their right mind would not believe a word of this first of all, and would be offended that they are trying to insult both our intelligence and natural hair at the same time!
Ughhh … give sista girl a neck brace from all that neck jerking and hair swanging and let’s move on …this is beyond ridiculous…
“The self-hatred!! . . . IT BURRNNSSSS!!!” Seriously, this is sheer “coonery”. She doesn’t need a new hairstyle, she needs some serious therapy. Sad and touching, as my mama says.
I am high-fiving stratosphere and sugamama!!!!!
This Got me mad! She didn’t get picked on cause her hair was natural she got made fun of cause she didn’t know how to do her hair and take care of it, like really in real life what black girl in their right mind would walk out their house like that ? so sad
this is a press and curl! chemical free…a hot mess. I wear my hair all sorts of ways but straight doesn’t equal beautiful. Your hair can influence self esteem, your skin, your weight, etc. Where in boston is this? 617 area code smh.
That is a damn shame (sorry for the language) but really. Even if I still wore a relaxer or wanted a straightening system this product would never be on my radar because of this commerical. Like really…smh
That video makes me want to kick someone in the face.
I sure wasn’t ready for all that hair flipping lol… What I want to know is the details of what the “100% Organic Ingredients” are?
I’d like to see her hair in a week…
LMBAO!!!!! This video is so outlandish all I can do is laugh at it. I can’t even get upset about it.
oh.hell.to.the.naw 🙁
everyone involved with this project needs to be ashamed of themselves.
“hide yo kids, hide yo wife, hide yo husband.. cuz they (brainwashing) errybody-up-in-here!”
insert stank face. *sigh*
I was saddend watching the video. All I saw was a beautiful young lady who viewed her self in very negative way. She cared to much what others were thinking of her and agreed with them, and out of anger she would fight. I am happy for her if with her “new hair” she is happy, but I would love for her to see she is the same person that she was with her old hair. She allowed others to define her and judge her on the outside which is not as important as what we are in the inside.
Blank stare.
At one point it looks like shes having a seizure.
The girl said that SHE CHOSE not to go out and meet people. Don’t blame it on the hair, my friend. It was YOUR decision that kept you from having a social life. You made that bed, not your hair, so lie in it!
And all that head shaking gave ME a headache! Sheesh.
I can’t…it’s too much…
All I can say is…WOW. I find it sad that we as Black people cannot accept who we are. I don’t have a problem with women straightening their hair. But, I do have a problem with someone advertising to young girls that their natural hair will bring social problems, that they won’t be pretty, and to avoid it they’d better straighten their hair.
Worst. Commercial.Ever.
The devil is a liar, I know that much
What a crock of crap.
That’s all I can say without going off of everybody involved in the production of this sad display
self hate is a terrible thing, isn’t it?
I wonder if she’ll still love herself when she gets lazy(again) and stops taking care of THIS hair style…?
This is a hot MESS! I know ol girl in the video could’ve found someone to do something to her hair. And unkempt hair does not justify bad social skills or fighting in school period!
Seriously…who would watch that and be like “yeah girl, imma get me some of that!”?!?!?! I can’t take it.
LOL @ Leo and “bullshiggery”
But really though, this commercial is all kinds of hilarious. I mean, who really shakes their head that much? any social acceptance they get from having straight hair will automatically be offset by that ridiculous head shaking they’re doing. slapping people in the face with their hair and ish…nonsense
This is just stupid. If she’s so concerned about her hair being silky & straight, why didn’t she do something earlier?
This reminds me of the old africian story that slaves sold other slaves, come on now STOP THE MADNESS
The commercial was so stupid. The girl clearly was either reading or memorized a script. There was no advertising of the product and I do agree that her her look permed, just unkept. Ugggg. :-[
One word…two syllables…BULLSYHT!! This is RIO all over again. Chemical free….free of the truth is what it is. UGGGHHH!! This commerical is horrible. I don’t understand it. If you want relaxed her, there’s nothing wrong with. But don’t promote a relaxer as chemical free. Everything has chemicals in it. This really pissed me off.
WTF at that sad music during that girl’s sob story–just realized it Erik Satie’s Gymnopédie No.1. I actually love that song and learned to play it. The commmercial is just SAD. SAD. SAD. SAD. Shaking like she has Tourette syndrome. I think she laughs at the end because she knows how ridiculous the commercial is.
Man…I couldnt even finish watching this mess….
Please,Hear?
This is the worst commercial ever… Everybody has someone pick on them about their hair but thats no reason to be anti social, and have low self esteem, always getting kicked out of school…I mean really???.. WHO DOES THAT?… Black women need to be proud of what they have. So what if you think your hair is nappy, thick hair is beautiful, so what if your hair is relaxed, its a personal preference. 1 is not more beautiful than the other, being natural does not make you better than someone with a relaxer, and having a relaxer doesn’t make you look better than someone that doesn’t. Anyone that feels like it does needs to re evaluate the way the feel about themselves. Be comfortable with who you are, regardless of what someone else has to say.
this is ridiculous…
Wow! Straight hair doesn’t make one beautiful. Beauty radiates from within whether hair is straight or not. Take responsibility for caring for your hair, your body and your appearance! Period. This is so perpetuating the brainwashing that straight=pretty. Uggh! Next!
If her tale was even remotely true, I’m willing to bet she wasn’t taught how to take care of herself in general. Why was her face so oily? A lack of awareness when it comes to caring for the self is bound to affect anyone’s self esteem.
I see scores of grown women who are trying (poorly) to create the illusion of beauty, but because they cut corners and use cheap weave/don’t take care of their ends/use drying products, they don’t succeed in looking their best. She looks like she falls into this category. I can’t hate b/c I had only limited knowledge of my own natural hair for a long time…but rest assured it didn’t look like that on my worst days. Her hair looks damaged (heat or relaxer IDK) and she needs a deep condition along with her counseling session. I realize the makers of the vid are trying to sell their services, but the pity plea is too much. Too much.
This is ridiculous. This is just another form of “propraganda” that teaches black women that you aren’t fully beautiful and “socially accepted” until your hair is straightened. What a mess!
First DE and their shea butter relaxer, and now this bullshiggery.
I love the random unqualified statistic of 70 percent..of who?!
The Rio (and Soul Glo) ads did come to mind for me. But if black women are being pushed this whole “straight hair equals sunshine and daisies” message, imagine what they’re teaching their children. We all should be better and beyond this.
Anybody tempted to call that number at the end and give a piece of their mind?
…looks like brain washing in progress…this has to be a joke
@Miss Novella – *joins in on slow clap*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH! TOO MUCH! THIS IS REDICULOUS
If she took care of her hair it wouldn’t have looked so bad.
@ Alex “However, I think the girl should take some responsibility in caring and styling her hair.”
*Begins slow clap*
…………………….*dead* AND I agree with Kristen’s comment.
Funny she blame her ‘esteem issues’ on her hair and not the fact that she seemed to have trouble remembering to wash her face…. LOL! It’s remarkable that she remembered to wash her face and get dressed when the hair was straightened. Hmmmm….
She has issues, for sure… but hair is not the problem.
Is this for real??? O.O
-_- seriously?
I though they were having seizures when they kept on shajing their hdeads to show off the european bounce to their hair. I wish black people would stop this mess.
lol@Rio! Maybe it’s Copa ( remember that?) Only way to find out is when all these people’s hair runs from their scalp in a few months and they file lawsuits…
Sad sad sad.
Where’s the product? lol
Also I don’t really buy the my hair is the reason I don’t socialize and why I fight in school. I mean everyone has difficulty with their hair at some point. However, I think the girl should take some responsibility in caring and styling her hair.
Again, where is the product, what does it look like, and what does it do exactly?
this is bullshit. that’s the only word that comes to mind.
This is lame. There is a much deeper issue here than hair.
An error occured on it

Is this RIO all over again?
It’s almost hard to believe the girl even believes what’s coming out of her mouth in the monologue!
I do agree – her hair sucks. Not because it’s nappy, but because it looks relaxed and damaged!
is this a product for neck flexibility ie: all the hair shaking going on or for an “organic all natural” (insert side eye) hair straightener?? ridiculous
