This past Tuesday singer Ciara posted a few short clips to both her Twitter and Instagram pages. The singer, who was in town to perform at Love Like a Movie Concert, joined a group of dancers in the streets of Lagos, Nigeria and performed a number of traditional Nigerian dances to several songs, including “Kukere” by artist Iyanya.
Among dance moves featured, one is the popular Shoki dance, which was also demonstrated in the latest Missy Elliot video “WTF”
On Tuesday evening, the singer posted the full almost 4 minute video to her Facebook page.

Nice! #Ciara has always been a talented singer & dancer. The other ladies dancing are talented as well. Great choice of music.
That’s great.
I almost didn’t click because I thought she was singing but no. So I like the video. I love her dancing but her singing voice is awful IMO
Dope….love that song kukere.
Looks fun.
Love it. I will watch later. All dance moves come from there? Google + needs to see this.
Those dances are not traditional. They are rather contemporary
Exactly! I LOL’ed at “traditional.” Because many of the dance moves come straight out of the videos for recent popular tunes. I’m like… Africa can be modern, too, you know. 😀
Thank you! I said the same thing!
I don’t think the article meant “traditional” in that way. When I read the word, I interpreted it as dances that are authentically Nigerian, whether they were created years ago or yesterday. If she was in Nigeria doing the dougie, then it wouldn’t be “traditional”, but that was just my interpretation, who knows.
Lol yea I’m like ummmm wait a minute
