Back in 2009 Viola Davis had just received an Oscar nomination for Doubt. It would be two years before her award-winning performance in The Help and five years before How To Get Away With Murder solidified her as a mainstream star. In 2009 Viola did a photo shoot for the June issue of O Magazine wearing looks inspired by Marilyn Monroe. And it is everything!
Viola modeled 10 looks for the spread, entitled Retro Fashion with Timeless Glamour, and discussed her rising fame;
“”It’s good this happened later in life, because I’m more comfortable with how I look now,” says Davis, 43. “I’m not comparing my body with Halle Berry’s anymore!… “I’ve been catapulted out of my former life,” she says. What sustains her is a sense of “what is reliable and constant and true.””

It’s insane to me that she had body insecurities. Her body is rockin’ even by Halle Berry standards,

It’s good, but #6 is everything. She is GIVING IT in her slung-over coat.
all of her photos are beautiful, but #4 is the only one where she is looking directly into the camera and you see those gorgeous eyes, lips, and cheekbones of hers separated by her defining nose…add her feminine shape and legs with the black fitted dress slightly over the knees to accentuate her shape and they tell the whole story…
To me, that photo represents Viola as sultry, seductive, and feminine and all while being a chocolate sista who is representing for the rest of us.
#4 is how she got that fine cop in HTGAWM lol that’s my fav as well
