Many of us grew up in a period when it was normal to relax a child’s hair between the ages of 5 to 10 years old. These days, more and more parents are choosing to keep the hair of their daughters natural to build self love and self acceptance. Here are just some of toddlers, preschoolers, and older who are proudly wearing their beautiful natural hair.
1. Riley Elle
Remember when Riley came onto the scene as a mini toddler? Â Well, now she is 5 years old and still rocking her natural hair. Here are a few photos from her instagram page, where she is described as a “Tot-treprenuer”.

2. Leah Jeffries
Some of you may recognize Leah from the show Empire, in which she plays Lola Lyon (the biological daughter of Luscious Lyon) on Empire. She is 5 years old and wears her natural hair proudly.

3. Serenity
Now for little miss adorable Serenity Mabon. She is almost two years old and loves to read, climb things, run, and dance. Look at all that hair!

4. Kaacy
Kaacy is also on Instagram and proudly natural at the age of 7. Â She is self- described as a “French fashionista” who resides in Paris.

5. Kaya and 6. Yanna
If you follow Bronzegoddess on YouTube, then you have probably seen her three beautiful and natural daughters. (Yes, all her daughters are natural!) While the youngest is still a babe, the middle daughter, Kaya, is 3 years old going on 4 while Yanna, the oldest, is 8 years old.

7. and 8. DiscoveringNatural’s daughters
Finally, here are the adorable daughters of Discoveringnatural on YouTube. They are 6 and 10 years old with gorgeous heads of natural hair at ages where many of us had already converted to relaxers.

How old were you when you received your first relaxer or texturizer?

Never had a relaxer or texturizer thanks to my mom for that one. She’d probably have a heart attack if I ever got a relaxer.
Thank you so much for featuring my daughters. We are grateful and hope that our videos help other parents, and caregivers of kids to embrace their hair and learn how to care for it in the best way. ((HUGS))
I was in 7th grade, and my mother gave in after YEARS of me begging her to just DO SOMETHING! I was swimming almost every day in the summer and I just got SO tired of trying to deal (I was left to my own devices since 6th grade and daily rollersetting on 4c hair to look “presentable” was taking its toll). So she finally took me to her very trusted stylist and BOOM, I got my Dark & Lovely on, lol. I’m still relaxed, I just love this site as inspiration and I learn a lot from the naturalistas which I have applied to my own hair and it has thanked me for it.
PS These kids are ADORABLE!
You didn’t get to see Chichiromeoandme? Who, you should check them out.
When I was starting 6th grade I got my first relaxer because my mom refused for the longest time but she was tired of dealing with all my hair so she was like ok. Now I’m entering my junior year of highschool 2 years into my transition because she refused to perm my hair.
Cannot even remember when my mum started that’s why I didn’t even know what natural hair was
Bless my heart…
