  1. Nice to see afrikan peoples rocking their natural naps…

Love dat! Will this come to Toronto anytime soon or afrika?

Would love an opportunity to come out and participate with my natural locks too…

  2. Flyyyyyyyy! Those girls did not come to play. Every single one of them came to represent! Purple jumpsuit? I need one in my life!

  3. We are so beautiful in our natural state! ALL of these women are absolutely GORGEOUS and put the Beyonce’s, Ciara’s, and Nicki Minaj’s of the world to complete shame. This is what our daughters should grow-up seeing the comfort, DIGNITY, and freedom in their God-given beauty.

  4. Every pic was inspiring. Im in SF Bay and we too have a meetup group that is awesome. Tho im not sure we could pull off something that big like in NYC, DC, and Chi-town. Anyway, I’m sittin here with my sew-in jealous and wantin to rip it out b/c I miss my fro.

  5. Every pic is GORG!!!!!! The ladies, the outfits and the gala OUT OF SIGHT! These are the best pics I have seen at a Natural Hair event to date!

  6. New Yorkers have swag for days! I love it! They just do them and they don’t care. #TRENDSETTERS

  7. I remember going to my first Curly Girl Collective event a few years ago. It was amazing! And inspirational. I’m actually hosting my second meetup for naturalistas of Boston this December. Check it out if you’re in town 🙂

  8. Very nice post but when exactly will any of the natural hair blogs post a tribute to the Dawnyele who passed away last friday as a result of her son’s birth. Seriously, she’s been on youtube for the last 4 years has thousands of subscribers yet the natural hair community decided to ignore her death. Smh. I’m guessing if it were someone like kimmaytube it would probably have made cnn by now. The only video mentioning her death are a few subscribers and close friends. Do something. We’re supposed to support each other.

    1. Sad, but maybe we were just not aware. I don’t visit YT as often as I used to, so until you shared this I didn’t know. Now I have to go to YT to refresh my memory.

      1. @ anewmeep – Like @ Trini stated, some of us just weren’t aware of Dawnyele’s passing. I for one, didn’t know her. Thanks for sharing, will show her family some support. She seeemed like a really wonderful person. My prayers and heart go out to her family and friends at this time. No need to lecture the owner of this site (whom I don’t know). She may not have been known about Dawnyele like so many of us. Next time just spread the word so that we can all get on with being a shoulder to lean on at a time like this.

        1. It’s not ignored alot of the youtubers have already acknowledged this with their on video responses as well. Also on Curlynikki forum and LHCF and Coilyheadchick and Koilsbynature.. and so many others are making contributions, and just talking and giving their wishes to the family..

          1. I agree with you Zyaran. I knew of Dawnyele because I watched her Terressentials video but didn’t watch after that. Not everyone has a profound connection to you tubers but those that do HAVE made their feelings known across various social media outlets. It has certainly not been ignored and the Kimmaytube comment was a low blow. I am not sure what anewmeep wants people to do aside from sending their condolences and best wishes to the newborn child and the lady’s family.

    2. OMG! OMG! I did not know this. She was my number 1 youtube guru because her hair was just like mine. OMG! prayers to her family. I just can’t, I am off…

  9. We are so freaking beautiful!!!! There needs to be a newsletter, I would love to know about natural hair events in my area….

  10. Wow. If I were thinking about going natural, I would definitely BC after seeing this post. Every head of hair is so different and beautiful.

I am proud. Black women…stand up!!!! lol

    1. love seeing these beautiful black women beijão wish many happy w / all you guys my facebook is douglas fontoura beijão the rio de janeiro girls awaiting you guys s2.

  11. You know among all the glorious manes, it’s nice to see the well cultivated TWAS that will one day spring into fros too.

  12. Absolutely beautiful…all of the women are 🙂 I don’t see how someone can critique a woman’s personal choice in regareds to how she chooses to wear her natural hair.

      1. no i’m in aix en provence it’s the very south of france and the only natural girl that i knew (who inspired me to go natural) has gone to paris two ago lol where i live the natural hair scene is dead lol

        1. I follow http://www.blackbeautybag.com and I recall her attending a hair event in Paris. Perhaps she can be some help to get hair events in the south happening.
I lived in Aix for 6 months in 2011 and I had a hard time because of my hair. At that time I was not that knowledgeable about properly caring for my own hair and a bad relaxer experience there pushed me towards hair blogs and researching how to care for my hair myself. I found it really interesting that the of the few black girls I saw most of them had a weave and it usually did not look all that great. I think I saw only 2-3 girls with natural hair during my entire stay.

          1. ah! i love that blog! i discovered fatou ndiaye a few times ago her blog and hair are the bomb! indeed i go to the law university in aix en provence and the few black girls that i see wear either relaxed hair, weaves or braid extensions. i agree that the weaves sometimes look really bad lol forgive my curiosity but are you french?

          2. No. I studied abroad in Aix at la fac de lettres. I always looked at the law school with a bit of jealousy when I walked by because la fac is crumbling and depressing. lol

          3. in fact the current law school is the former fac de lettres we stole it! lol anyway i’ll go on watching the internet maybe i’ll find some natural event here soon thanks!

  13. Those photos but a BIG smile on my face. So many beautiful women with fly hair! Feel uplifted and inspired.

    1. Co-sign…as I walk the streets of my little Midwest town with my ginormous BAA today…I simply must get back to NYC sometime soon so I can be amongst my “tribe,” lol… 🙂

    2. Right!! Im sitting in the library (on BGLH instead of studying…opps!) with this big a$$ gin on my face.
