1. Israel – police brutality against Ethiopian Israelis

Last year, Ethiopian Jews took to the streets to protest police brutality against their own.

The statue of Cecil John Rhodes, situated high on the campus of the University of Cape Town, usually gives the old colonialist a magnificent view … of the land that he once ruled, developed and exploited for his personal profit. – Aljazeera America

3. South Africa – race-impacting tuition hikes at universities


Students say the move [to increase tuition] will further disadvantage black learners in Africa’s most advanced economy who had little access to universities during decades of white apartheid rule. – Times Live
4. United Kingdom – solidarity with blacks in the U.S.


Following the recent killings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, protestors in Britain gathered in support of Black Lives Matter. The demonstrations led to the closing of Oxford Street, the “busiest shopping street in the country”.
5. United Kingdom – lack of diversity at BAFTA Awards

Months ago, there were protests against the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards over the lack of diversity in the film industry.
