[Pics] Lupita Nyong'o Wore a Gele (Nigerian Head Wrap) on the Red Carpet and Shut it Down

Actress Lupita Nyong’o turned heads last night at the Queen of Katwe movie premiere in a royal blue and gold ensemble complete with a fabulous gele (head wrap). The beautiful gown and gele were designed by Carolina Herrera and truly reflect Nyongo’s African roots.

  1. Lupits wore a headscarf it is not gelee neither is it Nigerian. Wearing headscarves is common in Africa it’s hard enough being stereotyped by other races but when other black people do it it’s depressing.

  2. Africa is not a country, and geles aren’t present in the whole region. Its a continent idk why y’all don’t treat as such.

    1. Agree. Lupita looks stunning (when is she never) but the gele is specific to Nigeria and Lupita is Kenyan. Style on the African continent is as diverse as the people

  3. She looks beautiful. I wish she would have gowned all out. I’ve seen geles way bigger and outstanding. And it would have been nice if chose a Nigerian designer as well. She looks amazing either way.
