[Pic] Erykah Badu Gets Candid About Aging While Revealing a Headful of Grey Hair

This is why we love Erykah and she will forever be #blackgirlmagic, because there is so much wisdom in her words.

The 44-year-old singer took to Twitter yesterday to share this candid photo of her grey hair with some words on aging.

“Body and brain have aged. My consciousness has witnessed this, Yet has not aged. This “awareness ” is who we are.”

We agree!

While the mainstream celebrity trend is resisting aging with all one’s might, we love to see black woman celebrities embracing it with beauty, style and grace. Lisa Bonet made headlines back in 2012 for sporting grey shaved sides with flowing locs, and looking marvelous.

  1. Oh that is amazing! You are still gorgeous! I don’t know if on my end I would love to keep my grey hair! hahaha! that sounds very amenable. Well, the beauty of a woman actually lies on how she delivers her wit! Considerably, I found one article also amazing!
    Check this out!

They talk about hair style, and keeping our hair healthy and on the move with fashion no matter how awkward it is.

    Great Article!

  2. You should know by now Erykah is constantly with the hair shenanigans. There is another article on here from April 2015 showing her with a low cut and a few sprinkles of grey hair. At the time of this article, she’s grown over 16″ of hair and a full frontal section of grey hair? I applaud her for being versatile with her hair and discussing aging as so many who reach that age will start coloring their hair but IMHO, this is another hair shenanigan. Love her music though.

  3. I’ve been greying since I was twelve. No big deal. It’s awful nice to see her without a wig – no matter the color of her hair.
How to care for grey hair:
    Keep it clean and conditioned
Oil your scalp if you have dry skin
Use heat as little as possible
Use an sealing agent on your locks
Tie it up at night because greys are hard to tame and they need the most love. Stop with the weaves, wig glue and rug fronts.

Oh wait, is that her hair or another wig? Dang Erykah!

  4. Gray hair is a fashion trend now. I do not believe that is her real hair color. Badu has always been a hair colorin’, hair wearin’ Diva. Do you Eryka!

  5. i am 43 1/2yrs old and i would NEVER be proud of looking like a witch! All Erykah needs is a broom and and a pair of boots! #NOTPRETTY

    1. Well then that is your insecurity. Hold on to that because the rest of us don’t want it.

    1. She will be remember for her talent not her hair. Who gives a shit if it’s real or not. Her vocals are real unlike others.

  6. I can already imagine the glut of natural hair bloggers flooding the net, especially YouTube, with all kinds of ‘grey hair care’ info … only after those now dominating the market have reached their forties though. Shame it’s not here and now for ladies like this. Seems people aren’t interested in ‘researching & sharing’ unless it’s about them or their own. Guess it’s another 10-20yrs for todays twenty something nat hair gurus like Nap85 et al.

    1. People go grey at different rates so don’t be surprised if some bloggers are talking about grey hair in their mid-30’s while others don’t mention it until they are in their 60’s.

  7. It’s nice to see a mature woman who ACTUALLY has gray hair wearing it out. Seems insulting in such an ageist society, that gray hair would be a trend.
