Many naturals use blowouts as a way to check their length progress, but for those who adore big hair, it can be disappointing to lose volume. A beautiful compromise is the 70s trend of feathery big blowouts rocked by iconic stars like Farrah Fawcett and Diana Ross. Instead of the flat-ironed bone-straight look, the fluffy blowout amplifies the volume in the hair with big curls that can be set with old school magnetic rollers or big-sized Curlformers.
Natural celebs like Solange and Lianne La Havas rock the trend effortlessly.

Hell Yeah!!
Yes!!! ???
I love big hair. I’m all about my 4 chunky braids every night. I let them loose in the morning, shake my head and go!
I will definitely try this. I LOVE big hair, especially as someone who doesn’t naturally have a lot of density. I just need to get me a set of large perm rods and I’m good to go. I wonder what product would work best for setting the hair on the rod after the blowdrying.
My grandma thinks this hair is “nappy” but I think it looks great and amazing. And what is really “nappy?” I want to do this to my hair.m
I just love their hair.
I like the hairstyles but my grandma said that most of the girls hair look “nappy” but I think these woman look beautiful. I want hair like this. Right now I’m transitioning my hair and I can’t wait to be natural. #blackgirlsrock #blackisbeautiful
I love it! im growing my hair out long (well, trying to) and I would love to wear it like this in the spring.
This is how I wear my hair 80% of the time. In its natural my hair looks thin but with a fluffy blowout, it looks big and fluffy.
These ladies are rocking these curls! YES!
First time I wore this look (about a year after I first went natural) I remember thinking: “WHYYYY did I relax my hair for so long?? I had NO IDEA my straightened hair could be this big and fluffy and sexy! How come nobody TOLD ME??” lol…not that I needed any other reason not to relax again, but that hairstyle really sealed the deal for me. Obviously it wasn’t a style I wore regularly, and I haven’t worn it in many years, but man…talk about falling in love with your hair…! 🙂
Gorgeous!!!
I’ve been sporting this type of blowout for years now, I love it! One added bonus is that I find the fluffy blowout to be really slimming, especially compared to the bone-straight alternative.
I always loved that big Donna Summers hair!
