Natural Bride: Patrece

When did you and your husband meet?
P:
Sometime in 2007 I needed a wrench for my bicycle. At the bicycle shop he helped me find the correct wrench and taught me how to use it (I already knew but played along 😉 ). I started working at the same bicycle shop in 2008, he was my boss! We went on shop hosted rides together after work. One day he asked me on a date after a ride and it has been love ever since.

Our wedding was October 24, 2010 at Lyn Mar Pond Guest Ranch in North Fork, Ca, just thirty minutes south of Yosemite National Park. We love nature and being outdoors, so it was the perfect location. The weather is always a little wet during the fall in the lower Sierra Nevada foothills; but the mist lent great mystique and romance to our ceremony.

How was your big day?!?
P:
Awesome! It was a beautiful day. A little stressful at first because it rained all morning. But, as soon as the ceremony started the rain stopped and as soon as the ceremony was over the rain started up again. It felt like God held the rain back just for us! A lot of family and friends helped out with flowers, makeup, food, decorations and more. Our dogs got to enjoy all the fun too. The most difficult part was making sure everything got done efficiently without seeing each other. The reception was forced inside by the increasing drizzle outside. With everyone so close the speeches were very intimate and we cried a lot!

How did you wear your hair?
P:
I have four year old, a little past shoulder length, locs. The wedding was on a Sunday, and my friend Carlanda retwisted and styled my hair on Friday. She did really tight pipe cleaner curls(that we both learned how to do from http://www.youtube.com/user/chescalocs). I kept the pipe cleaners in until Sunday morning, did a little basket weave on top, and separated and pulled the curls a bit to the length I desired.

What was your process of deciding how to style your hair?
P:
I just knew I wanted something simple, free, comfortable and easy to put up and take down. Also, part of our honeymoon was spent backpacking, so I didn’t want to worry about ruining an intricate three hour updo by sleeping in a sleeping bag, in a tent, without a hair wrap.

How did your family/husband/guests receive your hair at the wedding?
P:
Bill loves me and my hair not matter what I do to it. My family and friends loved the curls.

Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
P:
You can find me on Facebook.
