Marvel is getting in formation with its latest comic book cover featuring queer teen superhero Miss America (America Chavez.) The cover, unveiled on artist Joe Quinones’ Twitter account, shows Chavez in an American flag themed outfit, a matching hat covering her eyes, and layered neck jewelry — a look inspired by Beyonce’s Formation music video.

Miss America Chavez burst onto the scene in 2011 after she appeared as a member of the Young Avengers. She has since become a fan favorite and people are responding positively to her latest look.

This issues will be the second for the Miss America series. Expect this gem to fly off the shelves in April!

eh, formation is about blackness and black issues so I don’t see why they used to for this
I didn’t necessarily see it that way. I always thought Lemonade covered everything from blackness, black issues, black women issues, AND women issues as well.
It hit us black women the hardest because it spoke volumes to us and it definitely was geared towards us. But that doesn’t mean that’s certain themes from the project couldn’t or didn’t resonate for others.
Considering who America is I think it fits perfectly. It’s comics and juxposing current topics w/current comics is quite common.
Listen,
I SCREAMED when I saw this cover. I typical buy my comics via comixology…but this cover right here?!?!? Taking myself to the comic shop to purchase ASAP!
