  1. If people wanna get married they will get married it literally has nothing to do with trans people. :/

fyi, there are trans folks who are married.

Sorry guys,I am Jamaican and when I get to express thats it!

  3. Very nice poof. Nice hair! I know there’ll be bigoted comments, so I won’t bother scrolling further down, lol.

  4. I do not support that crap. They’re bullies to the tenth power. Why would an adult want to use a restroom with little girls knowing they’re not the same gender. A company is making a tampon product for these sick individuals. They want to change woman to person dealing with breastfeeding. I read it briefly ..it’s along those lines that they want things changed. This is not OK .. I want people to be happy but want about the happiness and respect of natural born women.

    1. Respecting trans-people’s BASIC human rights does not equate to taking away rights for women. I am also not sure where you are getting your information about “tampons for trans people” from. Trans women are not worried about breast feeding- they are worried about simple shit like, oh I dunno, getting a job and basic healthcare. Oh, and not being murdered for being trans.

Also, trans people do not attack little girls in bathrooms (or little boys for that matter). I have yet to read where this has happened in a high frequency. In fact, Europe has many countries that have unisex bathrooms and they are fine. Regardless of allowing trans people to use the bathrooms, sick people (cis or trans) will hurt people regardless. And allowing trans people to use the bathroom does not mean its legal to harass anyone in the bathroom.

And if you are worried about your daughter being molested, you should then think about where kids are ACTUALLY likely to be attacked. Like by church leaders. Or in the playground. Or on the school bus. But no one wants to think about that, now do they?

      1. Don’t do church ppl. I stand by what I say. I don’t support them. You have your views I have mines.. 🙂

      2. First off..this opens doors for men to dress as women. I’m not saying the transgenders will assault women. This opens doors for sick ppl to do sick stuff. You’ve gotta think about the bigger picture. You support them ..good for you

        1. “This opens doors for sick ppl to do sick stuff. ”

Sick people will do sick people stuff regardless of the law. And there is no law that makes it legal to harass anyone in the bathroom, regardless of gender.

      3. See..ppl like you want to point to church and schools. That isn’t the topic! You’re trying to sound right until you’ve let the perverts slip in. We’re talking about the domino effect this will cause. Stay on the path..magic tricks don’t work on me.

  5. Amazed, saddened and disgusted with the amount of bigoted views expressed in the comment section. Remember, karma is a bitch. God will send you exactly that which you hate and don’t accept.

  6. This comment is full of nonsense.

Black woman will get paid less and get less jobs because of sexism and racism, not because transgender women are entering the workforce.

You don’t agree with families that “don’t procreate”? So if a woman can’t bear children, you dont agree with that family? If a grandmother raises her grandchildren alone, you don’t agree with that family? If a gay couple adopts a child that was previously unwanted by straight people, you don’t agree with that family? Nonsense!

Trans women are out here getting MURDERED for being themselves (at higher rates than cis people) and are worried about how to live their lives without getting hurt… and you talmabout “trans women are impeding on our space, they will take our men!” Girl, get a grip on reality!

Also — “A woman identified man can not teach a little girl about her period.” I don’t even know what to say to this because this is one of the most ridiculous things I have read today.

  8. I’m starting to think that black women are ok with the majority of them being single. Without a man or being a single mother. I see so many black women supporting this transgender movement but not as supportive of straight black men, or the future of the black family. Because one doesn’t agree with families that don’t procreate that doesn’t make them transphobic. Many of you don’t see what’s happening on a mass level. I think many little girls are going to grow up without a husband even more in the future due to mass incarceration, as well as situations like this. It’s his choice to do this but the more black naturally born women do not have a space just for us the more we will get paid less, lack higher job positions, have daughters with no husbands, and sons who do not want to be men. How do you all expect there to really be a future for us? We have so much against us in society. Truth be told transgender people will never fight for black women the way black women fight for them. A woman identified man can not teach a little girl about her period.

  9. BGLH,

Cox does not support black women, nor do they care about black women. Cox fiercely defended anther trans woman who murdered a 13 year old black girl named Ebony Williams. The trans-person Cox was defending was trying to get transfered to a women’s prison and Cox was this person’s biggest advocate.
Cox also sat back and giggled while an adult white man made fun of then 15 year old black actress Amandla Stenberg on television. Stenberg was literally calling out racism and cultural appropriation and this individual (Cox) didn’t even defend her.
Cox’s character on OTNB is also pretty misogynistic, and they also have a makeover show where they make fun of women and attempt to teach women how to be women. I guess putting on wigs, spanx, heels and makeup is all there is to being a woman, despite the fact that none of those things have anything to do with being a woman.
I do not know why black women would ever defend Cox. Just because they exist out of the gender norm doesn’t make them a saint. I’m a black lesbian and I am so over all over this idol worship within the LGBTQ community and outside of it. I mean, women are really telling themselves that they wish they could be as “pretty” or “feminine” as Cox. Like, women are convincing themselves that they aren’t woman enough to be women. What kind of regressive social movement is this?

  10. Very pretty, but—and I don’t mean to stir in trouble—does she bleach her skin?? I ask because I recently saw old pics of her in a forum from about 10 years ago, and her skin tone was significantly darker than this. Even when you compare her to her brother, who is her identical twin, the only real difference between their appearance is the fact that his skin is about 10 shades darker than hers. I don’t want to stand in judgement, but I would like to know if skin bleaching is something that black women are casually taking part in nowadays?

    1. I kind of hate questions like these because it’s speculation delivered as accusation. Lighter skin on black women does not equate to “skin bleaching” as I see so often. It’s like when Rihanna goes to Barbados during the summer and becomes darker, but in the winter she’s lighter and people accuse her of skin bleaching. It’s like, put two and two together, the sun DOES affect black individuals too. If you looked at pictures of me from when I was younger I’m significantly darker then than I am now. That’s because I grew by the beach and went to the beach often and also went to water parks and theme parks a lot during the summer too. Plus being a kid I spent an immense amount of time outside than I do now. People will be lighter for many other reasons than skin bleaching. New skin care regimen, amount of time spent outdoors, the lotions and oils you use, visiting a country with a hotter climate, etc. I’m not saying skin bleaching does not happen, I’m just saying that lighter skin is not always a result from skin bleaching.

    2. When i stared to wear makeup, like foundation my skinned lightened a lot due to basically very little sun exposure. Maybe that is why? She wears a lot of make up a lot of the time.

    3. By the darkness around her eyes I can see why you would assume that… It appears that she was of a browner complexion. Eye darkening due to aging appears differently beaides she’s quite young.

    4. Could be make up, exfoliation, hormones treatments, chemical peels or cosmetic but i doubt she bleaches her skin. Google Vybz Kartel and compare.

    5. Definitely bleaching. I saw a pic of her and her brother when they were around 7. Completely identical, and both the same chocolate-colored skin tone. Now we’re supposed to believe that while her brother stayed a Kelly Rowland, she “magically” lightened into a Beyonce. LOL sure! Combine this with her comments that she wanted to narrow and thin out her nose to make it more “feminine” and that will give you the insight you need into what type of mentality she possesses concerning her features. But of course you know how people are with celebrities. It’s easier to self delude than to see that their beloved idol has some obvious flaws.

    1. No matter the means, she’s still attractive and I prefer this look on her than all of the wigs she normally wears.

  11. Ok am done with bglh. This is a MAN. STOP using this space as a pedestal to force us to accept transgendered. This was a space for black WOMEN to learn to celebrate US and our natural hair and not men parading as females. This is insulting to black women to consider him a woman. You have lost a supporter since 2008.

    1. THANK YOU SOO MUCH! I agree with you 10,000%. It was interesting at first with non hair articles but yes this is just crazy. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one looking in this kool aid cup like “what is this crap your trying to get me to drink???!!!? And yes that is a MAN!!!!

    2. Bye lol No one is forcing you to do anything. I’m sure you clicked this article and typed that comment all of your own free will. I’m sure BGLH won’t miss you if you’re views are that bigoted anyway.

    3. Fuck you and your “support”
You transphobic piece of dog shit.

The world is evolving, and it has become more understanding and accepting of everyone and their differences. You’re a relic of a very negative past that none of us will miss.

      1. Dajewel is not a piece of shit & she is not transphobic. She doesn’t have to endorse anything she doesn’t want to. You don’t have to get personal with her; if you disagree with her fine. But getting personal because perhaps she is telling the truth?

      2. actually, in some parts of the world there is a third gender. imo, trans people should occupy this category. the world is evolving, but not necessarily as you think it should.

    4. You are so ignorant not long ago white people were asking society to stop “forcing” them to accept black ppl as human beings. I hate ppl like you

      1. You’re reaching! Not accepting a transwoman as a real woman is not the same as whites not accepting blacks as human beings. No matter how many horomones a transwoman takes, or what they believe they were meant to be, their DNA still says male. It’s a biological fact.

    5. Wanting the focus to be back to hair is understandable but transphobia is not.I don’t understand people who discriminate against other minorities when they know how it feels themselves.

    6. I wonder how many trans-men are allowed in Cis-Heteromale spaces, and this is more a critique to our male patriarchic society. Will trans-men cover men’s magazines in the same way Laverne Cox has Essence etc? Some form of privilege has to exist for a man to turn himself into a woman and demand a place in the spaces of black women created *by* black women but not have the same to be reciprocated, no?. Please educate me!

And Ayanna, “You transphobic piece of dog shit.” comment is no more understanding and accepting than the original commentators’.

    7. Thank you! I thought that I was only one that was thinking this. What is wrong with society? Most black women gets mad when they see a “brother” with any other women than a white woman, but we applaud gay behavior. What people do is their own business, but when someone is against it then it’s wrong for us to have a opinion, because it not the thought of the majority. Too be normal now days is the wrong thing to do.

    8. The fact that so many people agree with you is really sad.
I know that parts of our community can be closed minded and bigoted, but this is actually disgusting…..

      Transphobia is not okay….
