What is your name and where are you from?
K: My name is Khadija Trotman and I’m from the beautiful island of Barbados 🙂
Did you transition or big chop? Share your natural hair journey with us!K:Â I big chopped, I’ve been natural almost 3 years now. I decided to go back natural because I got tired of my straightened hair. It was too flat and not all that fun lol. Â I always loved my thick, kinky hair !
How would you describe your texture?
K:Â My hair has two textures, Â which I find is kinda weird lol. It has a 3b,3c texture at the back, as opposed to the top which is more of a 4a,4b texture. My strands are very dense.
Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month, and the rationale behind your various styling decisions.
K:Â Well, this month has been quite busy with my natural hair and makeup business taking off and such. I’ve been doing mostly a protective style like crochet braids, or a finger coil or high puff when I’m wearing my own hair. I use the Eco Styler Crystal Clear Gel and a shea butter mix (just coconut oil, olive oil and castor oil with the butter) to keep it moisturized.
What does wash day look like for you?
K: A wash day basically takes up half of my day lol.  I use the Creme of Nature line. Beforehand I, do an oil treatment pre poo because  it makes shampooing a lot easier.  After the wash I seal in the moisture with coconut oil and do large twists for a twistout, or bantu knot outs for a curly fro.
Describe your favorite go-to hairstyle for days when you don’t have a lot of time to style.
K:Â My favorite go-to hairstyle is the twistout! If I know I have a busy day ahead I simply do the twists the night before. It only takes one to two hours for my hair to set.
How do you combat shrinkage?
K:Â I just go with it! I don’t usually have a great amount of it but when I do I just grab my pick and I’m good to go.

Tell us about your hair color!
K: I’m my own hairstylist so I colour my hair myself  🙂 My current colour is Adore “Aquamarine.” I thought my hair texture would have changed bit it didn’t at all.
What are some of your problem areas that require extra care and attention?
K: I actually don’t have any problem areas with my hair 🙂
What are 2 do’s for your texture?
K:Â 2 do’s for my hair are bantu knot outs and twistouts for styling.
What are 2 don’ts for your texture?
K:Â 2 don’ts for my hair are blowouts and perm rod sets.
Is there a blog/webpage or social media account where we can find you?
