Introduce yourself!
K: Hello, My name is Keisha and I’m from Jamaica, but currently live in Brooklyn, New York.
Why did you make the decision to go natural?
K: I got tired of wearing weaves and felt like since I am getting “old” why not embrace my natural hair. I have been natural now for 2 years and 5 months.
How would you describe your texture?
K: My hair is thick, gets tangled a lot and breaks off easily. I would say I’m a 4b or 4c, not really sure.
Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
K: I try to keep my regimen as simple as possible. I do a lot of braid-outs because I love the fact that they stretch my hair out. I do twist-outs too, but hardly ever. I use Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie for both hair dos.
What does wash day look like for you?
K: Wash day for me is an all day thing. I start off every wash day with a deep condition or hot oil treatment. Shampoo with Shea Moisture Organic Black Soap or Organic Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo and I condition with the Restorative Conditioner from Shea Moisture. Yeah, it’s a lot of work when it comes to washing my hair, but it’s worth it.
Describe your favorite go-to hairstyle for days when you don’t have a lot of time to style.
K: Definitely braid outs and updos.
How do you combat shrinkage?
K: Oh wow, well I try braid outs but when the humidity “HIT” there is nothing I can do but embrace it.
What are some of your problem areas (if any) that require special care and attention?
K: The middle and the back seem to be my problem areas.
What are 2 do’s for your texture?
K: Lots of water and moisturizer.
What are 2 don’ts for your texture?
K: Heat and using fine-tooth combs.
Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
K: Yes, I am on Instagram @Sugarleo.

You have beautiful hair!
I love you hair. It looks nice and healthy! I’ve been natural for about 6 years and my hair just isn’t growing. Mostly because of me. I also like shea moisture products. What do you use to moisturize your hair during the week?
