Jordin Sparks Forced to Defend White Mother After Disrespectful Fan Attack

I understand that racial tensions are high and people are all the way in their feelings since Donald Trump’s election… but are we really attacking people for who their parents are?

Singer Jordin Sparks found herself in the unenviable position of having to defend her mother after a fan referred to her as an “average white woman.”

Sparks responded by calling her mother “anything but average.”

“She is my beautiful, strong, hilarious, protective, savvy, will whoop your ass in a heartbeat mother. You must not see yours as such since you can so easily call someone else’s ‘average.'”

You can check out the exchange (as captured by The Shade Room) below.

*Phew*

Conversations about the politics of relationships in black America — whether inter or intraracial — are constant. But attacking children for who their parents are is never appropriate or productive.

  1. idk why people think they can talk to celebs any type of way and expect the celeb to not clap back. they’re people & you can’t go around talking about folks mommas. that’s how you get yo ass whooped irl

  2. How could one can be so disrespectful? It is hard to be civilized when you loose it. But then it depends on what is being presented. Hey I would like to share this new fake sonogram videos from fakeababy. This is the funniest thing and the best buddy for gags.

  3. I’ve been in that position before being mixed with a white mother myself and all you do in those situations is stay classy, step aside from the haters, and walk on by. She should never have to apologize for what her mother is and I think she handled it well. I mean who is this girl trying to shade?

  4. I understand what the girl meant. She’s trying to figure out why a Black man (Jordin’s father) would go outside his race just to be with an average looking white women. A LOT of Black men go after white women because of self-hate, upping his status and etc, the commenter probably just felt some type of way about that and that’s why she has those views.

    1. It really wasn’t her business to figure out. Last time I checked the majority of people walking around regardless of their race are average or below average.

If someone is dating/marrying based solely on looks then its not going to last period. My guess is that girl was sitting at home alone and mad because some black man passed her over for an average white woman.

I would count it as a blessing. There are some black men white women can have!

    2. I get what you mean. She may have felt some type of way but that doesn’t make her words proper at all. That’s her mother, she should show some respect and know if someone said her mother looked average she would’ve spoke up too. Dont come for the family. Who her father decided to be with is none of your business. Yes the reason some black men date out of their race may be on the aspects of what you listed, it could be the case for him, we don’t know. But maybe, just maybe, some black men date white women or other women of color because they want to. Dating outside your race is fine, just don’t bash and degrade your own people. Simple as that.

    3. I always find it strange when I see a white women who gave birth to a child that looks black,Jordin just see’s a mum but lots of women of color can relate with the commenter-lets keep it real-most black men that date out always tend to feel a way about black women and choose not to date them, most black men are happy to date an average looking white women over a fine-looking sister, thats the truth..there are black men who will date any women thats NOT black, there is something not quite right there…there are more coonish black men now, then there ever was..lets be real.

  5. Who cares? Biracial problems. Last I checked this site had black girl in the title. You don’t talk about black men’s issues so why talk about biracial women’s issues?

    1. If she’s “Biracial” with Black in her blood, she’s still Black! Doesn’t make her any less white or biracial.

      1. No I’m sorry but I’M black. A biracial person is HALF black. PART black. NOT FULLY black. We aren’t the same. GET OVER IT. That should be obvious by now but racist mfs still want to go by the one drop rule when you know damn well no white person would ever claim her, and rightfully so. Black people need to have more self-respect and self-worth. Learn how to establish boundaries.

        1. I agree with u, when will black people start discussing our own issues, all the time discussing other races, it beats me honestly we r always defending other people who wouldn’t defend us.

        2. I agree with u, black people are always including mixed people in everything, have u visited mixed groups u never find black people.

        3. You’re probably not fully black yourself, but you want to police other people’s black-thenticity? Some people kill me. This website is for black women (whatever percentage of African descent you claim) period.

          1. Girl, all fully black means is that I DON’T HAVE A WHITE PARENT. It’s not a difficult concept and yes I QUALIFY. I can’t relate to being a woman and having a white mother. I can’t relate to crying white tears because someone referred to my white mother as an “average white woman.” That’s not something that I would be up in my feelings for, because I’m black.

“Average white woman” here meant “your typical-looking white woman.” All you have to do is look at it in context. Just because it’s framed for you to think it’s a big deal doesn’t mean you have to buy into it. Jordin Sparks’ mother doesn’t look like a glamour model despite having a daughter who is very exotic looking. THAT’S ALL THIS IS.

Is that the kind of thing black people cry over? You people act like you don’t know Jordin Sparks by now – have you forgotten that promise ring drama? She’s a drama queen, and trust and believe SHE GETS IT FROM HER MAMA. Black people don’t have time for nonsense like this. I CAN’T RELATE TO THAT WHITENESS IN HER. I’m not claiming it and I’m going to call her what she is – BIRACIAL. THAT is not black. Black people don’t cry white tears.

I’M black. Like other “fully black” people, and unlike white people and their spawn, I get upset over things that actually matter – like little black children getting shot dead for no reason by police. Who has time for biracial tears? Especially when what they really are are white tears in disguise? Girl, NOT ME. You can cry for white women if you want to. I don’t have time for it.

          2. Please save all your long, inner turmoil for someone else. You being the self-appointed “who’s black” police is just ridiculous.

    2. Drop the “blacker than thou” argument. Sheesh, no wonder Trump got elected; we can be our own worst enemy.

  6. Jordin had every right to defend her mother…I don’t care what care what color her mother is. You don’t speak negatively about someone’s mother and attempt to brush it off like it was nothing. The person was rude, plain and simple. “I’m just calling it like I see it.” What kind of ass backwards comment is that? It’s sad we live in a world that people feel they can say any rude, mean thing that comes to their mind and respond with a “I’m just calling it like I see it.” Oh but you support her and her music??? How???

Again good for Jordin for defending her mother and putting that person in her place.

  7. Commenter was wrong: Some Black women want to act like Black men are only supposed to marry out for beautiful white women, when most people are average anyway, Black white or whatever.

You tell her, Jordin! And it’s spelled J-O-R-D-I-N.

  8. No tea, no shade but she does look like an average white woman. Yes, the lady was disrespectful pointing that out but that is what people do on social media: articulate what they think. Sensitive celebrities should not be reading through comments on social media. She needs to go to the Beyonce School of Media Training aka IGNORE!!

  9. Way to go, Jordan! Some people are just plain ignorant! They will say and do things as of it’s my fault. Most mothers are crazy awesome!!!. I often wonder how my mom did it with three girls…me born much later in her life and with less than $13K.

  10. I can’t really get up in arms with the use of “average” as a so-called attack. To read the headline you’d think someone called her one of the various slurs one could come up with for women assumed to be loose.

    1. Agreed. Seems what they mean is “everyday/unglamorous or just ordinary looking”. That’s how it reads at least. Hardly an insult or comment on her character.

  11. Don’t blame Trump for this mess. That girl would’ve said the same thing despite who was in office. Gutter mindset.

  12. The ‘fan’ is very stupid. VERY VERY stupid and disrespectful. I’m glad Jordin put her in her place. if a white person did what she did all hell would break loose. HYPOCRITE.
