Everyone is rocking the Kim Kardashian hair, the Rhianna hair, or the Cassie hair.
So. No for me.
Jada looks better with her grown woman style.
I do not like this look, besides if it’s not broken than why fix it.
Maybe its just bad photography but she looks rather umm..well I wont say.
She looked better in the Matrix than this.
Long and natural was her best look.
I would bang her anyway though.
Black women love white guys with big dicks.
Jada what did you do, This is not a good look sorry. I think you looked great in long hair. I know the look is to be hip but no vote on this one. You are a great actor though, Will you are a lucky man.
Not!
I love her and her style. She could be bald and would rock it! <3
no, just…no
I wore this style for a year and a half and finally started growing my sides and back again. It was a great style and I got many compliments. She does have to move that one braid though. 🙂
I’d do ANYTHING to munch that carpet Jada!! I love your look! Give me that booty!
I think it’s all HOLLYWOOD!! California, it’s her style edgy
Nuh uh
I like it, but that one braid in my face would bug the hell out of me.
she’s a celeb, so anything will look good on her!

Because she is so pretty the style looks nice on her. Very edgy! Very cool!
She’s GORG but this is not my favorite style on her
I’m sorry but I just don’t like this style choice. Actually, I LOVED Jada’s 1990s Different World and Jason Lyric short chic style (she was so cute then) I also liked her Hawthorne “long hair don’t care” style. The goth or rocker chick styles that she likes to do just don’t work well to me. Anywhoo, Jada’s going do Jada so if she comfortable. . . . my opinion doesn’t even matter. I do wonder what Will thinks of his wife’s ever changing and often bizarre hairstyles. Again, if he’s fine, then what can I say.
It’s different that is a fact. I personally do not care for this style, but Jada is different so this is not new.
Well, in France, the debate is way deeper than all I just read here.
On November 15, a fashion online magazine called Puretrend used this picture of her to declare that “braids are an awful hairstyle”, “braids belong to the past”, “it’s has been and should definitely disappear for good”. The article, full of hainous terms concerning braids, also states that “they look like octopuses on celebrities’head”. As anyone would expect, black people reacted massively to the insult and the magazine was forced to publish an “apology” (Since they considered that their article had a rather humorous tone, I don’t think apology is the right word here). Some French bloggers wrote articles to respond. But this is not the first time poor reporters with few skills, no culture, no knowledge whatsoever, write sh***y articles about Black culture and how it is represented in the fashion world. They try to walk on it, to make it appear like a sub-culture, like nothing. It has already happened with Elle magazine a year ago I think.
Besides, this article and its hainous tone go along with the recent insults to our ministry of Justice Christiane Taubira (Guyana-born) whose picture appeared next to the picture of a monkey on the Facebook page of a member of an extremist party. When asked about her collage by a TV journalist she went further by saying “she should go back to her tree”. She was called a monkey again this time on the front page of an extremist magazine. She is now protected by more bodyguards.
This is the link to the article (in French)

Love it I’m 46 have the same style this summer shaved sides and blondish box braids and I’m a BIG girl.
It suits her. *thumbs up*
It suits here. *thumbs up*
Didn’t she do this already?? Nothing new.
Love it !!! Jada Pinkett Smith looks great and her hair style shows her youthful exuberance and zest for life. This compliments her on the stage with her Rock band. I would love to get some Diva by Cindy Leave in Detangler in her hands to spray on her braids to keep her hair moist.
As far as i am concerned, Jada can do no wrong!
But Gosh there are a lot of mean people on here!
Well said Marie
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Even if that opinion is positive or negative. The article does end with the question “What do you think ladies?” In my opinion, I wouldn’t wear this hairstyle because I don’t like it, but Jada Pinkett obviously loves it. If she wants to wear her hair in a unique style, then she has every right to do that and I truly hope that she is happy with it.
Not feeling the hair. At all. When the sides grow out hopefully she’ll go for a different look.
Some of y’all some bitter bishes! Yes bishes!!! Cause y’all sound like some howling female dogs.
Go Jada it’s your thang do what ya wanna do!!!
PMS indeed, rife. I find it interesting that anytime a black woman shares a differing opinion she must be
bitter
a female dog
“bish” (I suppose this is supposed to be cute in hoodrat circles?)
hater
We are the first ones to scream black people are not a monolith but let a black person of the female persuasion not share your opinion and she’s called names, absolutely pathetic and it’s almost always other black women who do this.
Thank you, Effoff. There seem to be two schools of thought here. One school of thought is if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it all. And the other is honesty is the best policy. I like honesty is the best policy as long as it’s tactful and respectful. I love Jada as an actress, I love Will, seen most of films, Fresh Prince, bought his music. Love their children. I have “Whip My Hair” on my Ipod. We’ve seen several films with Jaden in them. My kids love the song he did with Justin Beiber. My mom went to the Million Women March years ago and met Jada and told me about sweet and down to earth she is. But I have the right to say, the hairstyle is not for me and I don’t like it on Jada without folks assuming that I have issues. I have shown more than enough support to the Smith family.
Let me clarify because you read incorrectly between the lines of my post: When critique goes into bashing a person’s body features that’s wrong. People can hate or love the hairstyle but calling any woman old, hardened, etc is disrespectful and shows a personal lack of self confidence, IMO. Example: I can say I dislike that outfit Jada is wearing without bashing her petite frame.
Sidenote: Are you not doing the very same thing you accuse me of doing by insinuating that I am “ratchet” for my use of an adjective (bish) that is slang and may not fit into your proverbial correct English? Pot meet kettle….pathetic BISH please don’t come for me unless I send for you.
Your line at the end was funny, but just to myself known and point clear,to say someone looks older is not offensive particular if you are stating the truth, why does youth always equate to being a compliment while looking ‘mature’ or saying someone looks older is seen as insulting,to say she looks old is slightly offensive if she looks young,it also shows an offensive tone.
I think it depends on how you use words.
The way you used “bish” would be a noun, sweetheart, not an adjective. You sent for me, so I came.
Laugh out loud
NO. MA’AM.
Some of the comments on here reveal more about the poster’s own issues than what they think of the articles/celebs…
Like mother, like daughter. Jada and her daughter Willow are both edgy, inspiring, and beautiful ladies
Where does the name calling come from? BGLH is about encouragement I thought, Not to put others down. Bless you all and I’m out.
That may be true, but let’s be honest, this hairstyle is ridiculous. You can’t wear outlandish hairstyles and not expect some criticism, I don’t care who you are.
I love this look on her. She’s so versatile and able to pull off lots of different looks.
She is pretty and I think she looks mixed. I knew she wasn’t all the way black! Such a beauty!
Wait, so you’re saying that by her not being “all the way black” that makes her beautiful? That is one of the more self-hating or racist things that people can say. That somehow black needs to be mixed with something else in order to make it acceptable or beautiful. First off, I don’t think she’s biracial at all. I’ve seen many black women who look like her, and there are many shade of blackness. Second, what difference does it make? Blackness in itself is a diaspora. Most African Americans as a result of slavery and being a transplanted race are not “all the way black” (whatever the hell that means anyway). And your username is just as ignorant. Natural hair is natural hair. 3a is no better than 4c. I have seen many sisters rocking their 4c strands beautifully.
Hmmm seems like a tough crowd on here today! Jada looks great. I think she looks like she lost a lot of weight, but she is still gorgeous. I also think the weight loss is what really makes her look older.
Her skin and eyes have always been beautiful. As for the hateful comments about implying that she “looks” older than her husband, well that’s typical of many, many black women. I still think she is way more attractive than her husband. Will with those big floppy ears. Yet you don’t hear women pointing out the floppy ears and mushroom shaped nose that Will has.
“Mushroom shaped nose?” That’s a really unfortunate way to describe black people’s noses.
Internalized racism is a bitch…
I know what you’re getting at, because clearly this poster is using “mushroom shaped” as an insult, which is unforunate.
But their choice of words reminded me of my first boyfriend, who used to tell me all the time that he thought my nose was so cute, because it reminded him of a little mushroom. And he said this with genuine affection, “your cute little mushroom nose”. To his eyes, the shape of my nose was adorable, because he was looking at me with nothing but love. It is true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder; and so much can change when we learn to move past the internalized racism and to look at ourselves with love, we learn to see the beauty in ourselves, our hair, our skin, our eyes, our lips, our thighs, our butts, our lips, the shapes of our noses.
i’m glad someone pointed this out. most women period tend to look older than their husbands, especially past an older age unless that woman is significantly younger than he is. at least, in my experience that’s the case.
She looks ridiculous!
She is gorgeous and I love her hair, maybe just not for her.
Dreadful.
We can guess why she might have aged some. ?.duh because she IS older. Maybe she looks older than Will but we all know women have the toughest job and get pulled in way more directions. Jada is a hero. We need mire like her.:-) .
Actually DUH,you’re wrong Will is 45 while Jada is 42,and she is looking past her age, where as most black women still look young at 42.
Shut up you retard! You sound dumb as hell. Hating because she has everything, a successful husband and family life, plus a fab career ya ding dong. And yup she is gorgeous! Of course you woukd have to look for something to be wrong with her. If you gott alife maybe that would help you.
You sound like a petulant 8 year old,I have not insulted had jada, just admitted that she has aged and I agree that a hard knock life and the pressure of being a women may contribute to that, love jada, always have.
People like you are very fake. They tend to hate others who are more successful and have a better life. If you want a good life, then make one dammit! For goodness sakes! instead of hating someone else for having what you don’t have. Your comment is mean spirited and you have no manners. Why compare her to her husband anyway? You women crack me up, whenever you see another black women with a good, successful black man, you become blinded with jealousy and find a way to put them down. Then you claim to “love” the person you harshly criticize? Get on medication please. Fake people. Please don’t have children, you will be the kind of mom who expects your kids to be perfect. You could have come up with more than “Oh she l ook older than her husband” wow. talk about mean spirited!
Why do black women like you always take things the wrong way,you obviously have a very negative mind set, just because she looks older then her husband, were not talking of features- is it such a bad thing to point out the obvious, she still is a pretty some.
Shut up you stupid, ugly jealous bitch. Thanks.
And by the way, not ALL black women look 17 at 42. And 42 is not old.
the reason Jada looks so mucher OLDER than Will because she has lived life a lot longer than Will; her childhood, Baltimore, Tupac all of that…she is a tough rough broad and it shows…all the money, surgeries, skincreams and spas will not help…the eyes tell so much..life will do that to you
I agree with you Miss Tiny on that, and I think losing more weight has aged her too.
LOOOOOOOOOVE it!
I like it, Jada is a beauty.
She is old! But it looks great because it’s sooo Jada.
It makes her look older than she would otherwise, I really just think it’s that style bc it made Lisa Bonet look aged aswell
She has aged and looks older then her husband, has nothing to do with her hair.
I agree Lo, I think the style ages her. Not my favorite of hers.
dont hate but dont love it either… the style is not hitting my emotions either way… love her love will love the kids though…
I absolutely love it,really cool and funky, the color is nice too.
Different folks, different… You know the rest. :-/
*sigh* here we go…I like the gunmetal tote she is carrying…
Hate it!
She always looks great to me! Love it!

Not feeling this at all…
I don’t like it either.
I like Jada as an actress and have admired her and her accomplishments. But this hairstyle just either says I don’t know what to do with myself or I want attention.
I love it!! Still one of the biggest inspirational person to my life to this day.
She so tiny! I love it, it looks great! This style really fits her look and lifestyle.
