Introducing Baby and Blog: A Site Celebrating Black Mommyhood

Hello ladies,

Most of you know me as a natural hair blogger, but 8 months ago I also became a new mom! The experience has been life-altering (to say the least!), but I’ve been bummed to find that there are very few active, online spaces for mothers of color. So I decided to create one.

Baby and Blog is dedicated to celebrating black mommyhood, and sharing our tips and experiences. Click here to check out the website and please join our Facebook page. It’s the best way to stay updated on all we’re doing:

If you’re a mommy and you’d like to be featured, click here for more details.

I’m really looking forward to connecting with you!

Leila

  1. Love this! I enjoy all Brigette’s hair tutorials! I have truly long, thick wavy hair similar to hers and I invest all day running around after my kid so I constantly need to use it up or do something to keep it from my method, and these designs constantly conserve me from simply turning it around an elastic band the exact same method day after day.

  2. Omg I’m so excited! I’m 9 months pregnant with my first and this could not have come at a better time! I can’t wait to read it 🙂

  3. This blog will be highly beneficial- my friend gave birth to a baby girl two months ago and because of African cultural practices [We are South African], she cut the baby’s hair her off. The baby’s hair will be growing soon and I think this blog will give my friend insight into how she can look after the baby’s hair without causing any harm!!! # excellent initative 🙂

Oh, and Congrats on the birth of your baba!!

  4. Wow, it’s gonna be a good read and a great resource to add to the growing collection! My sincere congratulations on your precious new bundle and hope you take good care of yourself and baby. Cheers!

  5. Firstly, congrats! A second, check out Natural Belle. I always considered her the UK version of BGLH, but since she’s had a baby, she focused more on being a natural mommy.

    1. Lol! It’s actually a boy! He has been mistaken for a girl dozens of times since he was born, lol!

  6. Just read the first feature and “liked” the page for Baby & Blog. I am really looking forward to reading more from the blog and hope that it becomes as successful as Black Girl Long Hair. I feel the same way as you, there are very few websites that cater to African American mothers and families.
