Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wished to
say that I’ve really enjoyed surfing around your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing on your feed and I hope you write once more soon!
Good article. Im might have to try a wash and go.
This is not a typical wash and go for type 3 hair type. My hair isn’t as long, but usually just getting in the shower with lots of conditioner, with a wide tooth comb is enough. Then run cold water on the hair to close cuticles. While the hair is dripping, put all products, from leave in conditioners, to oils, and serum in it, squeeze/wring hair over the sink, letting excess product and water out. Then blot with a tshirt to get more water out, or pin in a pineapple if you have time. No need to sit under a dryer. This method of applying product while hair is dripping allows the product to seal into every strand better, and it is easier to apply while hair is soaking wet, as it is less thick. I learned this from Tyra Bank’s hairdresser Oscar on her show. I always get asked what i put in my hair to make it look so defined. Nothing special. I condition, use leave in hair butter, serum and sometimes very little melted shea. I have 3b/c hair. Try this method. You can still use whatever products you like, just apply them while the hair is soaked, not damp. It works and your curls dry defined and less clumpy.
Your hair is gorgeous though. I am just giving you advice on a real wash n go with less work 🙂 It takes me 5 mins after shower to do this. My hair is about 4 inches shorter than yours. So for you, 10 mins tops. It will work if your hair is a type 3.

After being natural for a year I’ve noticed that my hair prefers wash n go’s. I would do twist outs, braid outs, Bantu knots and my hair just seemed dry even with daily water/oil spritz. I got my hair straightened and colored for my one year anniversary and that was a big no no. I got heat damage in the front and left side and after about two weeks I cut that mess out. Lesson learned. Since then I’ve been doing wash and go’s and my hair looks and feels the best it has during my whole natural journey. I’ve also noticed a lot less breakage during my weekly detangle and deep condition session. It’s still winter in the DMV and I haven’t gotten sick. I let my t-shirt absorb most of the water and add a leave in, Shea Moisture Curl and style milk and Eco styler and let my hair air dry. Sometimes I will do it every two days. My hair is really loving this!
Wash and go is my easiest style right now. I wash ..add leave in and eco styler and im out..it looks great..however I dont know if its the best thing to do in thd winter time. I attribute getting sick in jan with leaving the house with a wet head.

That’s was a lot of work, I need tips and how to’s for much shorter hair. Also less work!
1. Her is is awesome! However where does the winter part come in? I can’t let my hair air dry in Chicago. 2. How does she put it up at night? Not to mention how does she re-fluff each day?
I LOVE her hair!
This is how I tend to do my wash and go’s except I don’t steam my hair (shame on me) and I use different shampoos and detangling conditioners. But, I also prefer to use Paul Mitchell “The Conditioner” leave-in because by far it is the best leave-in I have found. it leaves the hair soft and bouncy and the scent is very nice.
Luv my wash n go seems that my hair doesn’t like braid outs or twist out just curls and go this is my 4th time growing my hair out finally learning the WNG is what’ up luv ur WNG boo

I don’t understand why hair needs to be protected during the winter. I mean, I know hair grows more slowly during the winter. Shouldn’t this mean that Africans have really fast-growing hair, since they live in such a hot region? I think there was an article on here about how African hair only grows at a rate of 4 inches a year. Doesn’t make sense.
why is it called a wash n go…seems just as much work, time, and product as a twist out, i want it to be easy and GO
Yup! I’ve been thinking we need a new term to describe styles like these – wash n go makes them sound more effortless than they really are. What could we call them instead?
(And of course, Alodia’s hair is gorgeous. Love how BIG it is!)
Yeah, it stops being a wash n go once it gets longer than an inch or so. The salon I go to calls it a Finger Style.
I actually do my wash n go’s about 3 times a week. I love it too. My curls are too coily to try the pineapple method and wear for days so I actually rely on this method. I actually need to find a really good leave in conditioner though…
A great Leave-in is Giovanni Direct Leave In for $7.99 or Tresemme Naturals Silicone Free with Avocado for about $3.50-$4.99 depending on where you live.
Hope this helps!
Looks nice but how is it any different from a regular wash and go?
