I’m all for innovation, but I truly don’t understand why anyone would do this. Curlers are not expensive, and if push comes to shove, you can cut up a paper bag or a rag and do this. In fact, if you are so poor that you can’t buy curlers (from the dollar store), I doubt that you have bubble wrap lying around anyway – ain’t like you’re ordering stuff from Amazon and having it shipped to you.
People stay making things complicated.
I would also wonder what chemicals are in the plastic.

I think it’s a good idea but I am concerned about any possible chemicals used to treat the bubble wrap.
Creative. It was a girl on Youtube that used ripped t-shirts to form some curls.
I don’t think I plan to attempt this, but I think it’s pretty awesome that she did this! Her hair is amazing!
Gorgeous hair! I so admire all of these natural beauties who have the patience to allow their hair to grow long and beautiful. I just don’t have the patience. My hair is just above my shoulders and I’ve decided to cut it off to a tiny little afro. I’m a mom of two small children and a wife to a very needy (in a good way) husband. As it grows longer I find that I don’t have time to care for my hair and keep it styled in such a way that would compliment me. But to all the beauties who do, including the vlogger Chime, keep doing what you are doing. You are shattering stereo-types about Black hair and inspiring so many to embrace what God has given.
Love Chime and her hair but I think credit should be given due to beautyklove on youtube. She was the originator of the style so far as I know. To be fair to Chime though when asked how she came up with the idea she did mention once that a subscriber suggested it to her after seeing another youtuber although the name of the youtuber was never given.

Necessity is the mother of invention and we are an inventive, creative people, lol 😉

I used tooth picks a couple of times …one to roll the hair and the other to hold it in place…like chop sticks….worked really well.
This will not look the same on shorter hair. I definitely like the idea though. Like the commenter above said, looks comfortable!!!
I can imagine working with a smaller roll or bubble wrap for shorter hair e.g roll the wrap 2-3 times to form the roller.

You would. All flexi-rods are is pressed together plastic. If you’d been natural for long enough, you would know that if you wrap a strand of wet natural hair around ANYTHING long enough for it to dry, it will take on it’s shape.

I agree…for shorter hair, just use straws….
Pretty. Cost effective. Seems like that technique would be more comfortable than flexis. Also seems like that technique yields better results than flexis…but that could also be the way it looks with her hair.
