Introduce yourself!
D: Hey! My name is Doreen and I’m from Rotterdam (the Netherlands).
Why did you make the decision to go natural?
D: My mom started to relax my hair when I was 9 years old. And as I grew older I kept on relaxing my hair myself…till the age of 23. I got bored with relaxed hair and just stopped relaxing. Now I can do so much more!! I love my hair and I’ve been natural for 6 years now.
How would you describe your texture?
D: My hair is a 3c?, very thick and also very dense. For me my hair is pretty much easy to work with.
Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
D: I co-wash my hair once a week with Andrelon Curl Control Conditioner. I’ve been using it for 6 years now and it works very good for me. As a deep conditioner I use Beautiful Textures once a month. Usually it rains here in the Netherlands, so it’s the weather over here that decides how I’m going to style my hair Lol. 🙂 If it’s raining I’ll do a flat twist or put my hair in a bun, or puff.
When it’s not raining I’ll go for the afroCurly look, that’s my favorite. 🙂 To get the look I wet my hair, put some leave in conditioner in and let it air dry. The leave in conditioner I use is also from Andrelon Curl Control. When I’m not lazy and it’s not raining, I roller set my hair or use flexi rods. For every hairstyle I use coconut oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, tea tree oil, castor oil and Shea butter moisturizer (it’s all from IC). I put a little bit of all the oils in a bottle, mix it, make 4 sections in my hair and distribute the oils into my hair.
What does wash day look like for you?
D: I wash my hair twice with Andrelon Curl Control Shampoo. Then I use the Andrelon Curl Control Conditioner. I massage it through my hair and scalp. After 3 minutes I detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb. When I’m done I wash it out, put the oils in my hair and style as the weather over here desires.
Describe your favorite go-to hairstyle for days when you don’t have a lot of time to style.
D: My favorites are the high puff and the flat twist. I think it’s cute and sexy.
How do you combat shrinkage?
D: I don’t have a problem with shrinkage.
What are 2 do’s for your texture?
D: The to do for my hair is…keeping my hair moisturized using my oils and keeping my hair detangled.
What are 2 don’ts for your texture?
D: Not moisturizing my hair. 🙂
Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
D: I don’t have a webpage, but you can find me on Instagram: Doreen Duarte Santegoets 😉

I found another Dorreen even thou its spelled different. Your hair is lovely and you inspired me to keep going strong.
Your hair is beautiful, but the curl pattern in most of your pictures leans more towards a 3b/3c mixture. Either way it is beautiful, and that’s all that matters.
Just wanted to tell you that your hair is sooooo beautiful. You’re lucky!
