Reader Raquel says;

Lately, I’ve been noticing more celebrities/high powered women rocking chic turbans. I LOVE the look, and I’d like to try it out as a summer protective style (plus I have so many pairs of earrings that would look DIVINE with a turban). The only problem is, I have NO CLUE how to wrap one of those things! Does anyone know the art of turban-wrapping? Is there a YouTube video or something I could reference?

OMG, I want to know this too!! Anyone have links to a turban-wrapping tutorial? Also, what are your thoughts on turbans? Would you rock one?

  1. i LOVE turbans! i started rocking them in the winter months to protect my hair from the NYC cold and i seriously fell in love. they add a little oomph to any outfit and are the best way to mask a bad hair day. i tie mine by folding them in half and putting them on the opposite way i would tie my scarf at night (like Tupac), then either tucking the ends in the front or rolling them into a circle and securing with hairpins. if youre considering it, definitely try out this trend!

  2. eva is killing it in that photo! i love turbans, and this is my favorite go to styles when it’s cool. in the summer – only on cool nights as it’s just too hot and i don’t like a sweaty head.

  3. I was so excited after seeing this yesterday! I went out and bought two different fabrics for turbans/headwraps and went twitter-crazy with the pics! LOLOL!! I love the look and I plan on rocking it as often as I can.

  4. I don’t like the turban look but I rock headwraps every once in awhile.
I can’t lie though, THAT SECOND PICTURE IS REGAL. African women can rock regality to the 100th power.

  5. Um i love the look of turbans but also believe that it’s basically a headwrap. for those of you who do your own, how much fabric do you use?

  6. i love turbans….when i was much younger that was a style of hat many wore to church…
i also remember that when whitney houston got married to BB, a turban was part of her outfit.

A turban highlights your face and if you think you’re beautiful…you are. thats all the confidence you need to wear a turban.

  7. I think they look nice on few people(depending on the way it is tied) and I don’t like the look at all on myself….I guess it’s because I’m not a big fan of the knot in the front. I do rock scarves for style purposes, but in a different fashion–usually knotted to the back in some way.

  8. The Sheikha is a BOSS. Style Icon if ever I saw one…girls and women need to take a page from her book. Or take the whole book:)

  9. I adore turbans! Started to wear them last winter. It took some getting used to, both in learning to tie them and wearing them. I also didn’t expect to get so many reactions when out in public, people would comment, laugh or just give me funny looks. Either way, I love wearing turbans and scarves and now they’ve become a staple style for me.

I also don’t think you have to possess a huge amount of ‘diva swag’ in order to pull off this style: being comfortable in you own skin and style should suffice.

    How I wear it:

    1. You look very glam!!! Yes, I do agree that you just need confidence. I definitely love wearing scarves and have been wearing turbans for months. I don’t care what anyone says, I just carry on with my business.

  12. Wonderful post!

I’d so rock a turban–they look so chic and beautiful. I need to get some scarves and practicing tying them.

  13. Sweet lord… you need to have some SERIOUS palpable diva-swag to rock a turban. Otherwise it just comes of as Chiquita Bananna-esque. Or worse yet, just a scarf/aunt-jemima-esque…fail. I could never do it. Partly because they just remind me of old-ladies and drag-queens.

  14. Sheika Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned is giving me everything I need today!! WOW…

I rock turbans every chance I get! Give me some fabric, and I will make it work lol

  15. Can’t say I love turbans, but the Emir of Qatar’s wife is beyond glamorous. Talk about grace, style, and beauty in stride- gorgeous.

BTw: how do we have the video show up in the comment section rather than just showing a URL???

    1. Sweet it did it!!

    2. I love DestinyGodley! But I have a turban that’s already wrapped…like in the video above. I haven’t worn it get but I would like to put a broach on it to make it pop. I got it from Family Dollar (a cheap retail store in the south) but I heard that you can them from beauty supply stores too.

  17. Here are two of my favs, one simple and the other a little more complex! Enjoy! =)
