[Pics] Tia Mowry Embraces Her Recent Weight Gain Despite Internet Hate

Tia Mowry is refusing to let Hollywood’s twisted perceptions of acceptable beauty change the way she sees herself.

After debuting her new cooking show Tia Mowry at Home, the 36-year-old actress gained what she described as “10, 15 pounds”. She was then dogged by pregnancy rumors and internet weight shamers. She addressed the situation in a December 7 interview with HuffingtonPost Live.

“I am not pregnant, I am just happy. I’ve gained these extra 10 [or] 15 pounds because of my cooking show… I’m just enjoying life and, when I want to drop the pounds, I will, but right now I’m happy with who I am…It is a form of body-shaming, I will say that, and it’s pretty unfortunate. And the reason why I say that is because I think that we live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect… Why can’t we just be us, you know?…

We need to be more supportive with body images, especially with women, showing that all sizes are beautiful. And I’m talking about in magazines, advertisement[s] in regard to what’s sexy and what’s not sexy. We all need to be a little more supportive of each other. I think if we start there, we’ll see a difference.”

The actress is not without humor. She posted the following photo to Instagram with the caption;

“FYI. For all the people that think I’m pregnant. I’m NOT just enjoying life and eating and cooking some great food! Thanks:) again I repeat I AM NOT PREGNANT! ??”

Along with her curvier figure, Mowry is sporting shorter curls. She is such a doll and we adore the overall look.

The fitspo craze is beginning to face serious backlash for being too extreme. A recent study found that an obsession with clean eating is actually a disorder called orthorexia that can lead to serious nutrient deficiencies. The reality is that, as women, our bodies can and will change over the course of our lives, and we should love and honor it at every stage.

When I see Tia, I see a gorgeous and stylish woman with great skin (seriously girl what is your skin regimen??) It is good to know she sees herself this way and is unbothered by the hate.

Ladies, what are your thoughts?

  1. Really? Fat? I don’t even see it she looks healthy and beautiful. Maybe people want her to have another baby or maybe they’re just rude. Anyways she looks great!

  2. Tia looks so good, she looks goo either way because she was never underweight but with her hair and confidence, she’s working it!

  3. Miserable people are calling her Fat. Yeah, she gained weight, but she Looks great regardless so why would that even matter? People are just noticing how happy she is and is trying to bring her down. I hope she mutes all those criticisms. But you all need to watch her cooking show! Its pretty good!

  4. Celebs need to stop spending so much time on social media and reading every comment. I think this generation has empowered the “haters” because we pay so much attention to what they have to say. Ignore them. Stop making posts about them and just live your life. The more you make posts about them and continuously try to call them out, the more power and visibility they get and the more relentless they become.

  5. I think people are just being funny. She’s definitely not big and it wouldn’t be a problem if she was. Negative people love to spread negativity.

  6. She’s gorgeous, stylish, and smart! I DON’T see her as fat ever! I will take her size ANY DAY!!! Keep rockin’ it girl! You go girl!

  7. She looks awesome. I think one of the best things I’ve done for myself was to stop reading women’s magazines. I’ve been more appreciative of my body in all its sizes ever since.

  8. WTF are these people talking about?! She looks amazing. Ugh, some people are only happy when they’re tearing others down.

  9. I usual do not make comments, but this time, I will. She looks amazing!!! Her body is reflective of her being a grown woman. A healthy, happy grown woman. Individuals who “body shame” or have negative comments about other people and their lives, only do so because they are too weak to reflect upon their own lives, see their mess and make adjustments accordingly. it seems to me that those who are being critical are jealous, envious and wish they were her. Beautiful, articulate, well-rounded, well-informed, secure in her own skin and well-loved. She and her sister are amazing!
