American Beauty Standards Ain't Sh*t: Zendaya Reveals Mind-Blowing Photoshopped Magazine Image of Herself

Zendaya1

It looked like Zendaya was having a pretty good week until photoshopped images of her latest shoot with Modeliste Magazine were released. In one of the re-touched images (left photo), Zendaya’s waist, bust, hips, and thighs are manipulated to be smaller. This standard of beauty has been the norm for most of the fashion industry for decades.

When Zendaya caught wind of what the magazine did to her photo, she immediately took to her Instagram account and posted her real body with a powerful message for the fashion industry.

Zendaya, who is known to stand up for herself, gave the industry a well-deserved read. In turn, Modeliste Magazine honored Zendaya’s request and removed all of the manipulated images from their Instagram page. Zendaya’s positive and empowering words regarding body image didn’t go unnoticed by her fans. In fact, most of them thought that the untouched photo was more flattering that the re-touched photo.

It’s refreshing to see young women like Zendaya refuse to conform to what the fashion world keeps trying to shove down our throats as “beauty”. Zendaya’s confidence in who she is and how she presents herself is inspiring. Guess any magazine will think twice before they try and alter her body.

  1. This is sick. She’s already thin. Good her though for standing up to that BS and saying something. I love her.

  2. Here’s the full unslimmed pic. Look at this. She’s already skinny. The edit just looks weird. Slimmed arms, slimmed face and weirdly flat jacket.

  3. So…they pretty much tried to make her look like a teenage cross-dresser. I mean the unrealistically long slender neck, the removal of her feminine hips, the removal of her shapely thighs and thinning of her arms (even the hair looks more wig-like…look at that touch up). To top it off, they even flattened her chest, how nice of them. To be honest, even young girls (thinness-wise) can’t compete with this. Perfect, just isn’t perfect enough for them, probably because it is not as exploitable.

  4. SMH big time. it’s foul to do that. 1/ they gave an 8-year old girl hips 2/ it’s unhealthy to show that to the world and to all the young girls looking up to her.

  5. Yah fall for anything the media say is truth.. Whole time I saw this on tumblr and w/o reading the caption I thought she was upset because the picture on left was the original and the one on the right was a fake; cuz if you look at her body structure.. she isn’t built like the pic on the right AT ALL. How she get that thick ( pic on the right ) and then go back to 95 pounds ( pic on the left ) soaking wet and wearing boots the next day? She mad cuz she wanted the right picture in the magazine but instead they put that bony ass original. Stop that foo foo-ness

  6. The retouched photos look absolutely ridiculous and unflattering! What were they thinking?? They made her body look like that of a nine-year-old! No wonder so many men are after young children!

  7. First of all, Zendaya is already a slim young lady. They felt the need to shave off her “fat”?? Lol. Good for her for speaking up & letting girls and women know that most of what the media shows us isn’t close to being real.
