Actress Viola Davis and Daughter Genesis Rock Matching Fros

How cute is this!!! Actress Viola Davis and her 2-year-old daughter Genesis rocked short fros while enjoying the animals at the Georgia Aquarium. Davis has spoken in the past about how she went natural to fully embrace her aesthetic as a black woman, and it’s great to see she’s passing that on to her daughter.

  1. fnally. i dont think genesis has ever been seen before.
i too am glad viola is wearing her hair proudly.
now if only they would let her wear it in her movies, THAT would be lovely.

  2. Viola is not only super talented but she is also not afraid to fully showcase the beauty of a black woman. I admire her for that, and for teaching her daughter to appreciate her own unique beauty. They both look so happy 🙂
Also, the kid in me is sooo happy to see a dolphin!! lol

  3. Awww, what a sweetie! And I always love seeing Viola’s natural look. Good for her to set such a great natural example for her daughter.

(SN @ Jasper:maybe Viola received special treatment for her visit???)

  4. This is so precious. Props to Viola Davis for changing the game when it comes to media perception of what a black woman “should” be.

Maybe if I saw more women and kids like her in Hollywood when I was growing up, I wouldn’t have begged my mom for a relaxer at such a young age like I did.

It dawned on me that the next and upcoming generation may be the first to really and truly understand how to care for and love their natural hair. And that to me is so beautiful. *wipes tears*
