She looks GREAT!!! I’m so happy when Black young ladies are proud of their hair texture – and flaunt it! I don’t like it when young Black ladies feel like they are supposed to have Long Straight (European) Hair hanging down to their waste-line. It seems as though they are ashamed of their own natrual beauty. Yes, Black ladies CAN be BEAUTIFUL with our own natrual hair – whether it’s long or short.
I get what you are saying but for black women who have naturally long hair, I don’t see a problem with wearing it straight and long. My hair is a bit long and when I blow dry it and flat iron it people always talk about how my hair looks like a white woman’s hair but that’s not my goal. Lol. I just want straight hair for that time. However, you will also see me in ponytails. And when I wear ponytails I wash my hair, condition it, and allow it to air dry then put it in a ponytail. And I still get compliments.
What I have a problem with is when black women wear weave that is not even close to their length and texture. It just looks stupid. And when it gets a few days old you can see their roots and their true texture but it all of a sudden changes. Lol. Plus, the weave and those awful wigs usually differ from their features. I personally love short hair just as much as I love long hair. Black women with short hair needs to embrace it and stop trying to be someone they’re not.
I remember her and her sister from their Sister Sister days, their hair was natural in the beginning & I was a little sad when they straightened it. I love that she’s going back to that, they have beautiful hair. I think they actually put the idea in my head to go natural when I had the opportunity to.
She looks like someone’s mom. But good move on Tia’s part. I’ve always liked the twin’s curly texture, since their Sister Sister days. As a matter of fact. Even as a kid, I remember watching the show and feeling disappointed when the twins decided to straighten their tresses. I always thought their spirals gave them a unique look.
I couldn’t do the “Big Chop” so I opted for a similar look and I’m loving it daily…

I thought I was the only one who notices that about Tia. She has been trying to be the “front and center” twin for the longest. Twice I have read the roles that Tia got, Tamera had tried out for them first, and decided to let Tia have them instead. I never liked Tia Period. Anyways getting back on track. The short hair is nice. No fuss no muss,when you are running around after a little one.

I was wondering why some were ranting about the use of the term “big chop”? I hadn’t realized that the term could be “weakened” since women have been cutting off their hair and going natural before the inception of this slang terminology. When I cut off all of my hair about 5 years ago, I was unaware of its existence and when was made aware, it didn’t change how I felt. Ok, so Tamera’s shorning her locks in favor of her hair’s naturally curly state does not apply because she is a celebrity? Is that what the “issue” is? Is that what we’re talking about? Because if you want to be technical, the Mowry sisters were natural way before the modern natural “movement” dating back to their Sister Sister days.
+1 Went natural in 2005 by cutting off relaxer. Never referred to it as a “big chop” or heard others refer to it in that way until recently. I didn’t know you could diminish the meaning of the term. Tia has taken off her wigs/weaves and cut off her long hair (relaxed or natural) for a much shorter style. Why can’t this be considered a “big chop?” Seems appropriate.

I love that style…But maybe it wasn’t a big chop,maybe she just wanted a short hairstyle. Its probably so easy and convienent with such a busy lifestyle and a busy baby. I miss my short haired days. Now thats truly a wash and go! LOL

Thats true to a certain degree but I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a relaxer because wavy hair is hard to straighten.
I love the natural look on her. she looks more authentic and more comfortable in her own skin.
