Elle hosted its 22nd annual Women in Hollywood Awards Monday. The fab event drew scores of talented and beautiful woman entertainers, and honored groundbreaking director Ava Duvernay for her career. On the red carpet actress Alexandra Shipp, who starred in Lifetime’s Aaliyah biopic last November, had us giving the stank face of approval as she rocked the heck out of her baldie.
The 24-year-old actress cut her hair for the role of Storm in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse and we are absolutely loving it. On her Instagram page you can see the actual big chop (done by her brother) and other generally fabulous pics of the style.

Um no this girl helped ruin the Aaliyah movie. Also storm from xmen has long white hair but now she rocks it in a big Mohawk with the sides shaved.
She looks really good with this cut. Her face shape enhances the cut, really bold and beautiful look.
Oh how I wish, I wish, I wish I could slay this look! But genetically I have two identical patches right above my ear where my sides look meh. I so would though.
Ok she looks goood with her new haircut. …SO?? it doesnt change the fact that she is the wrong person to depict Storm and her acting isnt the greatest either. I hope people dont confuse her looking good with her deserving the part of storm cause the two are two totally different issues. Like “hey looks she looks so awesome with her haircut that maybe she’ll be good as storm” like NO. The two issues have nothing to do with each other

I think Angela Bassett should be Storm.
Except…my inner fangirl knows that Storm was always depicted as a beautiful, regal, dark skinned black woman in the comics. Alexandra looks lovely but she is no Ororo Munroe.

True. I always felt that Lupita would’ve been a better choice. But if she cant play Storm I think Lupita would make a great Vixen aka Marie McCabe.
