Solange has always been one to speak her mind and tell it like it is, and we love her for it. Last night, she was attending a Kraftwerk show in her family when four very rude white women yelled at her to sit down and threw something at her back. She quickly took the conversation to Twitter to express her disdain for the situation and how black people are often assessed in predominantly white spaces.

We have to give Solange props for keeping her cool, because situations like that can end badly. However, it’s sad that it’s often on the onus of black people to not react when treated with disrespect because we are primarily seen as the instigator, even when provoked or confronted.

White females have GOT to start being held fully responsible for being violent instigators of racism against Black women and children. Period. Constantly allowing them to hold up white men as “The Face” of all racism on Earth has allowed them to continuously get away with committing hideous acts of violence, harassment, and abuse against Black women and girls (especially in schools) and it needs to stop. End of story. I WISH a crusty porky pig colored pinkish white b!tch WOULD try to assault me in public like that. Being slapped in her dumb face would be the least of her worries.
Having seen Kraftwerk fairly recently in NYC, they are not really a dance band and no one stood up and danced the entire show. It is kind of rude to walk in late, see that no one is standing and dancing and proceed to stand and dance while blocking the view of others. Of course throwing anything at anybody is totally uncalled for. Making this about race and Tweeting about the incident ight after it happened makes it hard to really care at all what happened to her and her family.

Those white people are just very bitter, angry, and scared to say those things in real life. I don’t pay any mind to them anymore. It’s toxic to keep listening to their lies. We know we are magic, they will keep hating on us, but we will still rise. Who cares what they say. And PSA: I’m only talking about racist white people, not the whole white population.
Um, okay, 2 things: 1) Solange has no problem going in on blk ppl who talk ish about her sister/family and had no problem assaulting her blk brother-in-law, but when YT berates you, taunts you and throws things at you, you take the high road by ignoring them, replying rationally and venting eloquently on Twitter. 2) Solange has decided to immerse her life and her son’s life in whiteness – she lives in white neighborhood, her son attends an upper crust white, french school, his friends are white, and Solange’s social circle is white, her DJ gigs are white-majority and her favorite band is this stale white band (that she is teaching her son hip-hop samples from). Do not live a white-filled life and then run to blk ppl for uspport when you get your ngr wake-up call.
I’m in nola as well and there are tons of black people down here!! But I’m not surpised because not all white people are friendly and quite frankly I keep my distance! Check this out..during Essence Fest, every year the french quarter closes it’s businesses because of the amount of black people that come into town!! I’m not even kidding,it’s appaling! But there are plenty of black businesses to support so please when you all come to visit,make it your business to do so!

I’m in the Nola area and didn’t know that some businesses did that! Money must not be important to those who closed their businesses during Essence because that’s a very huge money maker for the city. Money is green!
