Dubai-based production company, Barajoun Entertainment released a trailer for what we deem as one of the most spectacular representations of people of color in 3D animation. Their debut feature film Bilal is inspired by the true story of Bilal Ibn Rabah, an emancipated Ethiopian slave who converted to Islam and became a Sahabah or trusted companion of the Prophet Muhammad.

Recognized for his great voice, Bilal is hand-selected by Muhammed to become the first Muezzin (one who leads the call to prayer) in Islam.

At the Dubai International Film Festival, screenwriter Ayman Jamal lamented the film had been in development for the past eight years.

The film is set for release September 8, 2016.
