also, NYX Cosmetics!! They don’t carry the darker shades in most common stores, but they do online and at my local hair store!!
This is an amazing list! Hopefully koyVoca.com will be able to make the next list. It is a black-owned cosmetics company located in Washington, DC.
Nice article! BUT, the first foundation for women of color before any of these brands listed was “FLORI ROBERTS”. In 1966, Flori Roberts was the first cosmetic brands developed specifically for women of color and big step towards giving African American women a prestigious line of diverse color of makeup and skin care formulated and shades selections specifically for women of color. Flori Roberts was the first brand of cosmetics for women of color to be sold in major department stores (ex: Macy’s, JL Hudsons, JCPennys, etc.). In 1991, Flori Roberts launched “My Everything Creme”, the first upscale multi-purpose facial treatment specifically formulated to address the unique aging process of black women 35+. It was an instant success! Flori Roberts left the department store in the mid 80’s to offer women the opportunity to become business owners/entrepreneurs. And today, it is sold exclusively through “Color Me Beautiful, Inc., beauty consultants like myself. Color Me Beautiful features the following major brands: Gale Hayman of Beverly Hills, Adrien Arpel, Color Me Beautiful, Flori Roberts and Patti LaBelle (fragrance/lotion only)” direct selling beauty consultants like myself. The brand is also synonymous with serious skin care and recently launched the first-ever skin care, “Enlighten, using ‘EMBLICA: a plant extract” which is a dramatically effective and natural way to even-out skin tone, fade discolorations and brightens the skin. Flori Roberts is first in global! First in black beauty! Today, Flori Roberts, sold through beauty consultants and in mall (kiosk) in the United States. Flori Roberts is now in Trinidad and Tobago as of 2014, the UK, Nigeria, Lebanon in 2013, Scandinavia, and brand new “House of Fashions” in Asia. LOVE it! Make-up for all shades or close! Awesome! I am always “between” shades and Smash box works BEST for me.
hmmm….black-owned products? Are you sure Sacha is “black-owned”?
Great article. I pretty much exclusively use Black Opal products. They have a lot of different lipstick and foundation options that fit my rich complexion.
