While Vamp-colored lipsticks are traditionally the shade we see this time of year, one of the splendors of having skin richly steeped in melanin is the ability to pull off any lip shade any time of year, without exception. When I see women of color boldy wearing orange and red lipsticks, I view it as a form of protest against society’s instance that we should only wear deep purples and berry shades. The ladies featured below wear orange and red so well that we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to display how beautifully the colors compliments the various shades of brown skin. Melanin on fleek, indeed!

For those of you who don’t want to shy too far away from a traditional lip color, try out a red with orange undertones:

Do you think you would try an orange lip?

I like the orangey lipsticks- I do think that Jessy by Lioele is a nice mandarin pinky orange.
‘Rio rio’ by topshop is a nice reddy-orange and of course mac ‘so chaud’ is straight up orange. I’m so thankful that I am black!!!! Yes it’s hard at times but we’re still here and still so damn fly!!!! Xx
Orange is beautiful !!! Love this color ?
You really do have to get the right shade for your skintone.
That’s like with every other lipstick, I guess.
I’m sure there’s an orange lip for every black girl 🙂 I like one that’s richer, more saturated in tone. Kinda like a burnt orange. So pretty!
I like it. I did not know orange lipstick could lavish on darker skin? It’s pretty. Go girl.
