Last month, we hit 700 Subscription Box members! Itβs an incredible privilege to have our products in 700 homes (716, to be exact!) as part of a healthy skincare routine.
The subscription program is just over two years old, and hereβs what weβve learned along the way:
1. Itβs about relationships.
One of the biggest reasons we launched this program was that we were tired of the βone and doneβ approach to salesβracing to get customers to buy our products and then ending things there.
Our vision was to build lasting partnerships with individuals and families, providing them with safe, effective, and incredible-smelling body care for life.
2. Our products last forever. π€£
The number one reason people put their subscriptions on hold? They underestimate how long our products last and end up with a stockpile!
Remember, our butters contain zero fillers, making them incredibly long-lasting. One of our most popular subscription combinations is one 6 oz or two 2.5 oz butters per monthβand honestly, thatβs more than enough! (Unless you’re heavy-handed! In that case, try a subscription for one 12 oz per month.)
3. Customers are testing and exploring.
Some customers start a subscription and later cancel because they prefer the flexibility of ordering on their own schedule. But hereβs whatβs interestingβweβve seen many come back after realizing they love the convenience and discounted pricing of the subscription program.
One of the coolest ways customers explore our butters is through our “Surprise Me” scent option. Each month, they receive a randomly selected scent, often discovering new favorites they wouldnβt have chosen otherwise. Many customers have even switched their subscription from βSurprise Meβ to a specific scent they fell in love with through the program!
4. An ethical subscription program can succeed and grow.
Many subscription programs are easy to sign up for but frustratingly difficult to cancelβsometimes by design.
For example, in 2022, Savage x Fenty was fined $1.2 million for defrauding customers by enrolling them in subscriptions without clear consent and making cancellations intentionally difficult.
At BGLH, we do things differently. Freedom and ease are at the heart of our subscription model. Customers can cancel at any time, on their own, directly from their BGLH dashboard. And despite this ease of cancellation, our subscription program continues to grow. That tells us one thingβwe have a product that people truly love.
