My younger self is screaming right now.
My biggest insecurities as a child were my eczema and hyperpigmentation. I did my best not to scratch in class so my eczema didn’t flare up. I hid my skin to avoid being picked on. I never even thought about wearing shorts, dresses, or clothing that would show my dark spots.
Fast forward a decade I’m more confident in my skin than I’ve ever been. If I could go back in time, I’d tell myself to ditch the Bath & Body Works and get the whipped shea butter.
To celebrate one of my favorite ancient Egyptian goddesses and my fellow fire signs, I did a photoshoot. The shoot was out of my comfort zone because I showed more skin than I normally would. But every time I second-guessed myself, I reminded myself of how far I’ve come with my body and my skin. I told myself I deserved to show off my hard work!
To prepare for the shoot, I washed with BGLH African black soap and moisturized with BGLH Lemongrass Whipped Shea Butter.

If you got a chance to read my butter moods piece, you’ll remember I like to use lemongrass when I want to be in an upbeat mood. This was my way of setting the intention for the shoot.
BGLH whipped butter keeps you moisturized for hours and hours! It’s not only a catchy song, it’s the truth. Don’t believe me? Look at the natural photoshoot glow.
