4 Ways to Use BGLH Marketplace Whipped Butter as a Hair Styling Product

Recently we did a roundup of customers explaining how BGLH Marketplace butters work on their hair (click here to read it) and quite a few mentioned using them as a styler. This is no surprise, in addition to moisturizing and strengthening hair, BGLH Marketplace whipped butter can help you achieve a variety of looks. Here are 4 ways to use whipped shea, cocoa and mango butter as a hair styling product.

1. As a curl definer*
Now I put an asterisk here because the whipped butters will not give you ‘root to tip’ spiral curl definition many styling products promise. However I have found that the butters do a really good job of giving gentle definition to my curls and coils. Here is a picture of a wash and go I did with my whipped butters a year or so ago.

And how the butters define my daughter’s curls.

You will notice that they don’t really force definition into our hair, rather they lock in and enhance the curl patterns we already have.

2. For defined twistouts and braidouts
Now this is where the butters really do a great job of definition. If you use them to braid or twist your hair, you will have a super defined and shiny twistout or braidout when you are through! They provide really good hold.

3. To smooth hair back for buns and ponytails
I have found that a little bit of spritz, whipped butter and a soft brush are a perfect combo for smoothing hair back. It is a gentler alternative to alcohol-based gel.

4. To revive second, third, fourth, fifth, etc day hair
One of the most delightful things I’ve discovered is that BGLH Marketplace whipped butters are so absorbent they can be used daily for quite some time without any serious buildup. This is a departure from many hair products that can only be used two or three days in a row before they weigh hair down and make it icky. I have taken to spritzing my braids with Oyin Juices and Berries (my absolute favorite water based spritz!), rubbing some of my whipped butter in my palm and then smoothing it down the length of my braids. I do this almost daily and the combination brings back shine and bounce in my hair and keeps it from drying out.

This style had been in for a week and a half when I took this pic. I used a combo of Oyin Juices and Berries and Cocoa Mango Blended Butter (will be available for sale soon!) to keep it nice.
