  1. I’m sure that most of the Black men who say they don’t like locs or natural hair would eat their words if they saw these women.

  2. Dominica Carnival this year was banging and we had more than a handful of naturals rocking it in their costumes

  3. All those people who say black women aren’t beautiful or look more masculine. Bitch, please.

  4. The 4th to last is the prettiest lady, she is gorgeous. Tbh though the body’s were banging and I’m so hetero. Hairstyles were just okay

  5. BGLH please do some basic research, at the very least, before writing an article like this. Half the Caribbean have not had carnival yet.

      1. I’m from Saint Lucia and we haven’t had our carnival yet… its all the way in July

  6. I’m a Trini that went to Trinidad Carnival this year. It was awesome as expected. I wish I could post a pic on mobile. Can’t wait till next year!

  7. Trinidad Carnival ’15 was the best since my first in 2009.. Loved wearing variations of my twist out in all the fetes, jouvert and of course, on the road! #trinigirl

    1. Good for you!!

Didn’t know that Carnival was such a big thing in Jamaica. My mind always goes to T&T whenever I think of Carnival.

  8. Carnival season is wrapping…what are you talking about…half of the Caribbean haven’t had their carnival as yet….

  9. i don’t understand why anyone would complain about the way they are dressed. it is carnival. AND they are in the parade.

they look totally gorgeous – from head to toe.

  10. I’ve never done this but I know they actually have carnival in Tokyo too; I think mostly Japanese, though. I’m normally demure but I would totally have NO problem wearing this. There’d be tons of other gorgeous women right alongside me. I’m putting this on my to-do list 🙂

  11. You forgot Brazil, even there is a tradition to use these dresses!
Oh, my God, all these black women are beautiful!

  12. I, on the contrary, love this. As a Caribbean women I love nudity. Not entirely in a sexual manner but in the overall liberty it brings. Its weight off of my soul. nudity is the acceptance of everything i am. I always think of carnival as a true account of who we Caribbean’s really are…what we do best. We are festive, we are African, we are gold like the sun. we are nature. We dress up with feathers and colors. We’re sexual in a more primitive and natural way, like spring birds in mating dances. We celebrate the beauty of life. Of what is, and what will be. These pictures define just that. The women are beautiful and diverse. They are vibrant and ready to pass on those healthy genes. The naturals are very evident if you are taking it all in instead of judging the lack on coverage. In Brazil, which there are no pics here of, fros and curls are everywhere! Attached is the most popular google search for Brazil carnival 2015: she’s rocking curls. Whether they are hers or extensions they define the most influential root of carnival…which is Africa.

  13. Commented last night and it said it had to be moderated… yet to see my comment appear… as I said Cropover’s carnival event Kadooment happens in August. Therefore the photos are from 2014 NOT 2015… smdh. I guess I’m not allowed to point out incorrect info :/

  14. ugh…they look so beautiful…and here I am in my frumpy sweats and pigtails eating cheez-its lol

  15. As Trinidadian and a Caribbean Carnival lover I think it should be noted that this website chose to display the pictures that could be classified as more risque. Natural hair is pretty popular in Trinidad (particularly ras) and many more women wear box braids and twist during the Carnival season for convenience of these styles. Maybe these pictures were the promotional pictures available from specific bands but next time around it would be nice show the diversity of creativity (and hair) in the Caribbean festivals.

  16. I always attend trini for carnival, and this year playing mas and feting was epic per usual! Miami is awesome, and am looking forward to that this year. Planning on going hollywood, belize and Grenada for carnival this year.

Oh and I got some interesting reactions to my hair while playing mas….pretty epic.

Carnival season is not wrapping up….its started in February 2015 with trinidad and is going till October miami carnival. Until then, is a carnival every month in some part of fhe he Caribbean and/or diaspora. I would like to see naturals represented at all these carnivals such as spice island, slu, cayman, Dominica, belize, Antigua, caribana, hollywood etcc

    1. Carnival goes through the end of the year. I’m referring to carnival in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, which starts in December & ends in January. 🙂

  17. The costumes are so beautiful that I can hardly notice any natural hair. Wish they were a bit more modest though :-)…but then again, I’m from a much different culture. My people would faint if they saw these women dancing down the street!

  18. Kadooment (the ‘carnival’ event of Cropover) happens in August. Those are photos from 2014 Cropover NOT 2015… :/

  19. They are all GORGEOUS women. HOWEVER !! No way on God’s green earth would I go out in public almost naked like that

  20. repping JA!! foreverrr, noo..i did not attend carnival, university life has me swamped. but I could hear it from my house. the bass was siiiccckk. almost destroyed a few things, but it sounded fun

  21. Karnival in Germany is long past, it is before Easter because it is meant as a pre-party before the fasting starts (the 40 days). How is it your side?

  22. They all look stunning…I’m not comfy being that exposed, but my sister in law went and was dressed to the 9’s and said she loved it.
