Introduce yourself!
H:
Hello my name is Holly Tiara! I am a full-time college student residing in North Carolina.

Why did you make the decision to go natural?
H:
I have been fully natural for 1 year and six months, but I transitioned to natural for a year before BCing. I was inspired by my sister’s luscious curls to go natural. I was growing old of the same old bone straight hair. Plus those perm burns to my scalp definitely gave me a great big push!

How would you describe your texture?
H:
I have a lot of textures in my hair. The portion that frames my face I consider 3c, but around the perimeter and my crown I have a mix of 4a/4b. I have a mix of fine and coarse strands in my hair, and it is extremely dense!

Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
H:
I usually style my hair with wash & go’s. My products vary, but my favorites are: Kinky Curly Knot Today for my leave in, coconut oil for sealing in moisture, and Shea Moisture anything lol. When my hair is not in a wash & go, I am experimenting with styles! Twist outs, braid outs, bantu knot outs; you name it and I’ve probably tried it.

What does wash day look like for you?
H:
My wash day is kind of long. I detangle in sections using Suave Naturals Conditioner; twisting my hair once each section is detangled. I wash my hair while it is twisted in sections. This cuts down on my hair jumbling up on itself, creating more tangles. I co-wash my hair with Tresemme Naturals Conditioner. It leaves my hair moisturized while still cleansing it. After my wash session I usually style my hair with a wash & go.

Describe your favorite go-to hairstyle for days when you don’t have a lot of time to style.
H:
My go to style is a massive puff! It’s quick, easy and also cute!

How do you combat shrinkage?
H:
I think shrinkage comes with the territory…over time I have learned to embrace it.

What are some of your problem areas (if any) that require special care and attention?
H:
The crown of my head needs some extra love! I make sure to give it a little more leave in and also a thicker oil (castor oil) to seal in the moisture.

What are 2 do’s for your texture?
H:
Using leave in conditioner and detangling fully.

What are 2 don’ts for your texture?
H:
Style my hair without a leave in and go for longer than a week without detangling.

Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?

  1. Whoo, girl, all the styles are tight but my eye was drawn to the big chop photo and the first one in the second row (with the cornrow twists). Heh-hey! Great looks and versatility.

  2. She’s so cute! I love her twists! I wish I could achieve them, but I find that when I twist my hair, it looks so thin, despite the fact that I have a lot of really dense hair!

  3. I did a style collaboration with this beautiful diva on youtube and she’s amazing ! Her hair is gorgeous, she’s definitely a Hair Crush !
