Introduce yourself!
K: Hello! My name is Krystal, and I recently moved from Washington, D.C. to Brooklyn, N.Y. I am a public health professional by day, and in my “spare” time I blog at The Feisty House. I’m also the creative director of Feisty Society Clothing Company, which is a ladies’ street wear brand launching this Fall!
What is your style philosophy?
K: Dress how you feel! My style is directly related to how I’m feeling at the time, so I never end up wearing something I’m not 100 percent comfortable in. I also stay true to my individual aesthetic; that’s what makes my style so personal. I don’t wear things just because they’re trendy right now. I wear the things I like and I make trends my own.
How would you describe your sense of style?
K: My sense of style is very feminine. I love feeling like a woman in my clothes, whether I’m wearing a dress or wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

What is the process of deciding what to wear in the morning?
K: I check in with my myself and how I feel that day, and I think about what I’m going to be doing, or where I’m going. Then I find something that fits. Some days I know exactly what I want to wear, other days I go through a few outfit changes. On those days, I usually get some inspo from the Pinterest app on my iPhone.
What are the three favorite things in your closet?
K: Ankle strap sandals I bought from Zara, a maxi dress I purchased at Urban Outfitters, and my crop tops from Tobi.
What are some of your favorite shops/websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
K: I love Zara for shoes and statement pieces (like my jacquard top), and I purchase basics from H&M. I love Forever 21 for good deals on accessories.
How long have you been natural?
K: My whole life! But I’ve been on a healthy hair journey since 2008. I finally reached BSL this year, and I attribute that growth to a low-manipulation regimen. I style my hair only once a week on wash day.
What is your signature hairstyle?
K: I used to wear Curlformer sets a lot; that was definitely my signature hairstyle. Nowadays my signature style would have to be a flat twistout. I only do about 6 or 7 flat twists, but I get a ton of definition. To maintain the style all week, I sleep with my hair in a pineapple each night, and I use the L.O.C. method to moisturize and refresh my curls every morning.
Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
K: I cowash my hair once a week using Aussie Moist Conditioner. I detangle my hair in the shower while it’s soaked with conditioner. I usually do a weekly protein treatment as well; I’ve been using Aphogee’s 2-min Keratin Reconstructor for a while now. I deep condition every other week with Shea Moisture’s Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque. I shampoo once a month using Kinky Curly Come Clean. It is the best shampoo I’ve ever used! I style my hair only once a week, on wash day. I use the Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-in Conditioner, seal with extra virgin coconut oil, and then I let my hair air dry about 75 percent. Then I flat twist my hair using an Herbal Essences conditioner (either “Honey I’m Strong” or “Long-Term Relationship”). I take my flat twists out the next day, and rock a twist out for the entire week.
Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
K: Of course! You can find me at The Feisty House (www.thefeistyhouse.com), and I’m also on Facebook (facebook.com/thefeistyhouse). If you like to use Tumblr, you can find me there too (thefeistyhouse.tumblr.com). And stay tuned for the launch of Feisty Society this Fall! It’s going to be amazing!

Awesome post on my girl Krystal… she’s such a sweetie!
Howdy! Do you use Twitter? I’d like to follow you if that would be ok. I’m absolutely enjoying your blog and look
forward to new posts.
I clicked on the Feisty House link and I noticed that you do not use the King James version of the Bible. I personally think that this is not a good idea. I found out from this website: https://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Bible/New%20King%20James%20Bible/new_king_james_counterfeit.htm
