Introduce yourself!
O: Hey guys! I’m Olivia and I’m just an 18 year old girl waiting to finish high school so I can move up north away from Florida. 🙂
How long have you been natural?
O: I’ve been natural all my life until 3 years ago when I texturized my hair and lost a lot of length, biggest mistake of my life.
How and why did you transition into natural hair?
O: I saw the damage that texturizing and heat did to my hair and I just decided to take care of my hair. I didn’t do a big chop or anything but when my natural hair grew out on top of the lifeless texturized hair I just trimmed it until it was all gone. That process took about a year.
What are your must-have products for shampooing, conditioning and styling your hair?
O: I can’t go without my shea butter and Taliah Waajid Leave in. I love both products and can never do without since I’m a big fan of twist outs! Also I buy all Taliah Waajid shampoo and conditioner and for gel I use 100% Aloe Vera gel. There’s no flaking and it works well with my hair 🙂
What is your signature hairstyle?
O: I’d say a big bun with a turban or scarf. I always wear it on a lazy day or when I’m just not up to doing my hair because it’s easy and it’s easy on the hair!
Did going natural affect your style choices at all?
O: It did for a while. I was so used to straight hair that I thought wearing certain things didn’t look as good with my big poof, but now I wear anything. I mean with growing up in general my style has changed from regular t-shirts and jeans to high waist shorts, jewelry, leggings, ect.
What are the three favorite things in your closet?
O: Oh mann, one would be my leopard scarf! It’s the first scarf I bought and I just love leopard haha. Two would be my high waist shorts. I love them! They make your waist look super tiny and since I’m 5’2″ it helps lengthen my legs! My third would have to be my big hoop earrings. With a protective style, you’ll always see me in big hoops just because I think they’re so feminine <3.
How would you describe your personal style?
O: I think it’s a variation of a lot of things but I’d say it’s mostly cute and comfortable mostly. I love to throw on tight shorts and a top and wear a big jacket. I love high waist shorts and jeans and I’m hardly ever in a dress. I’m such a laid back individual so I think it mostly reflects on my personality :).
