Apparently the BGLH Marketplace Storefront is Adding to the Community Vibe in Bed Stuy

I love owning my own storefront; talking to customers, getting to know my ‘regulars’, figuring out New York’s complicated trash pickup system — all of it.

When I moved to New York from Chicago in 2016 I was actually in Fort Greene on the recommendation of a friend. But when I started looking for storefront space I heard repeatedly that Bed Stuy was where I needed to be. It is an incredibly historic neighborhood with an eclectic mix of black folks — working, middle and upper class, Caribbean, African and African-American, conservative and bohemian. I was lucky enough to find a space I could afford and even luckier to get a warm welcome.

So when I was notified that my storefront was featured in a Bed Stuy neighborhood guide, I felt honored. It was just one sentence on NakedApartments.com — a New York specific apartment hunting site — but it still meant a lot!
