Usain Bolt Implies Cheating on Longtime Girlfriend Kasi Bennett is Okay Because of Jamaican Culture

After his historical Olympic 3-peat this summer, Usain Bolt entered the news again as photographs surfaced of him in bed with a mystery woman.  Then came more pictures of the Jamaican athlete with other women at the club, in hotels, and in the streets. Media sources quickly began to question whether he was cheating on the long-time girlfriend — Kasi Bennett — that he spoke of in previous interviews.  To further the speculations, sources also noted that Bennett was “liking” various social media posts disparaging these “homewrecking” women and Bolt’s “womanizing” ways. This was all back in August.

Since then, the scandal has died down and the Jamaican couple appear to be very much still together. Though some people may not understand why Bennett would stay after such humiliation and disrespect, Bolt shares that the public cannot judge his (or Bennett’s) actions from a limited cultural perspective in a recent interview with GQ Magazine:

“The British press is always trying to make me out to be this bad guy who loves women and how all I do is women and stuff. … You can’t judge a different culture by your own culture. In England when you get famous the first thing you do is get married and have kids. In Jamaica it’s different — like my parents had me and they got married 11 years later” – Bolt tells GQ Magazine

What do you think of Usain Bolt’s response?

  1. He’s so pathetic. Also I hope they at least have some type of agreement behind the scenes, like an open relationship arrangement because I’m embarrassed for her. The whole thing is just sad.

  2. Is this click bait or something or do you guys really not understand the article and response? I am a Jamaican and have read the article. I don’t really understand how you drew that conclusion from what he said. I think he simply means that the expectation that you get married right out of the gate is not the same in Jamaica.

I mean he then further goes on to say this highlighting another difference between Jamaican culture and English culture:

“And his behavior at nightclubs, he says, it isn’t exactly what it appears to be. “In Jamaica, we wine on each other. It’s our culture. People see it the first time, they’re like, What is going on? It’s like they’re having sex in the club! No, that’s just the culture. It’s how we are.”

Sexually evocative dancing is apart of our culture in the form of Dancehall. In other places I’m sure it might seem unacceptable but in Jamaica that’s pretty normal.

    1. I very much agree with your comment. BLGH is better than reposting madamenoire articles and yahoo news nonsense like this (two websites which have both posted this exact trash over the past 3 or 4 days). This is a non-story and ridiculous!

    2. Exactly. I’m reading the comments like, did these people read the same article that I just read?

I swear this site just picks bones out of nothing just for a dang story!

This has become a gossip site. Shame. I came here for hair!

  3. ORRRRR MAYBE JUST MAYBE this isn’t a case of disrespect, I mean good grief, is everyone personally involved in this relationship?? maybe they are open. maybe they are polyamorous. maybe his gf has a sidepiece too. I cannot believe this is still a news story.

  4. I swear, I’ve been with two carribean guys (one from Trinidad and the other from Barbados). The one from barbados publicly dated me and this other girl in the same high school, with no shame! At the time, I was in denial and just ignored the elephant in the room becase that boy was a charmer. And of course he had his other side pieces that he saw more discretely. He wouldn’t even hesitate to tell all of us (yes ‘all’) that we are his only one; and all of us girls got along… phew. Side note, he saw us individually; at least i knew he would see ME individually i dont know what got those other girls going lol.

Now this Trini bastard was overly sexual! He was a charmer but coudn’t go without wanting sex for more than half an hour, he would even feel me more food so that I’d have more curves because he said worshipped the saying “meat is for men, bones are for dogs”. Basically, I wasn’t “meaty” enough for the n*gga? First of all comparing me to food and daring to “customize” my physique? Heck no. On top of that, he didn’t like “labels” and would sleep with countless other females out there. I do admit I loved him in bed, but he is a manwhore that wouldn’t take responsibility for his actions.

Currently, I’m happily engaged to the perfect man. I’ve been through so much lol. Island boys man… Gyal me want fi hol yuh ??

  5. He’s not lying. Cheating is very much a part of the misogynistic Jamaican culture even though not all Jamaican men cheat. Its similar to cheating American men; Jamaicans just recognize that it happens and assume their girlfriends will accept it. Only difference with Usain is that its harder for him to hide his sidechicks.

  6. If Kasi Bennet cannot keep Bolt from straying then there may be no hope for him. One would have a better chance winning Powerball than finding a woman more beautiful than Kasi Bennet.

  7. That’s sad when you lift your culture ” disrespecting your loved one.” Personally I’m bored with your nonsense.

  8. That is NOT Jamaican “culture” at all he is just twisting it to make himself look better… I used to like this guy but he is trying to make Jamaican culture look sleaze !

    1. Sadly, he’s not completely lying. Jamaican culture might not be sleazy but it is misogynistic and men cheat all the while assuming their #1 girl will stay. Not all Jamaicans cheat just like not all Americans cheat, but they definitely recognize that it happens.
