It seems like Ms Ross is all about the protective styling when she’s not rocking her gorgeous curls 😉 She was spotted this week rocking chic french braids and a slicked back bun while spending time in New York with her boyfriend, Bu Thiam. Agreed. Its not even a black thing. If you people didn’t like what she wore, why bother commenting? Just leave it alone. Some people are talking as if they are on point with their style ever time they walk out of their house.
Yeah that’s not her in the cutoff jeans. The hair texture is different and so is the body shape.
does it really have to be a “protective” style and not just a “hair style”? I mean, sometimes I put a braid in my hair because it is aestetically (spelled wrong, i know) pleasing. Sometimes I just feel we over-analyze other naturals.
I think the bun makes it a protective style; the fact that her ends are hidden 🙂

I usually like her style (or maybe I liked her Joan Carol Clayton style and now her Carla Reed style?), but I’m not feeling those mom jeans cutoff. The other outfit I sort of forgive because it’s clear that she was traveling, and for many, comfort is more important than style while on the plane.
She’ll forever be one of my favorite hair icons, though.

I’m from London and that style has been around for years. In fact its been around so long, its come round again. We would call it putting your hair into”two canerow”. It was huge in the 70’s and 80’s and then nobody would rarely walk the street with their hair in that style. But like many things its now retro, so its ok now.
if the shorts were a tinge bit longer, I hate the cheeky look. The hair is gorg!
Your comment is spot on! I don’t agree with the cheeky look at all (despite the fact that she has toned legs), especially on a woman her age, but she never goes wrong in the hair department!

the hair is nice as usual. my hair will be in a bun or those braids tomorrow for a meeting; it’s usually what i do.
Those are not french braids, they’re cornbraids. French braids are inward. And I wear that ‘do all the time. Very easy.
I was thinking the same thing. Since when are cornrows french braids? This is just two braids. I probably wore this style everyday as a kid & teen along with everybody else in the projects. Not impressed. Its just a common hairstyle. It is easy and neat though & will keep your ends protected!
Not a fan of her fashion choices, but her hair looks great–I might try these styles this summer!

i rocked this style, except mine were inward french braids, while transtioning. its very cute and EAZY BREEZY in hot weather!!
I like both hair styles b/c I wear both. I love french braids. It’s super easy and you can wear them a few days if you cover them right at night.

The boyfriend looks like a version of AKron who is ugly as well. I’m like she is tore up from the floor up and I guess is not having some good days in those pictures..lol

I totally agree, I was thinking the same thing. Having/expressing an opinion is fine, but respect and love should rise above all things. We are all different and what one person likes another may not. It is important to value one another as individuals and always be positive. It says more about US when we are negative, than it does about what we are actually speaking negatively about.
Her hair looks nice…I agree with others about those shorts. I try not to dissect celebrity fashion in paparazzi photos because maybe they know they don’t look good but they just don’t care because the outfit is comfortable. Back to the hair: I was thinking of wearing my own hair like this but was concerned I might be too old for the look. But this is second grown woman I’ve seen this week with the style so I guess I have nothing to worry about! lol

She’s one of the main characters from the series, that no longer comes on,”Girlfriends”. I love Tracie Ellis Ross she was hillarious as well as beautiful on the show.
